Psychological explanation for male submissiveness?

I'm a male sub, and I wonder why men like me are the way they are since the majority of men seem to prefer to be the dominant partner. I think part of it for me at least is the idea of presenting myself to a woman when I am at my most vulnerable and knowing that I will be cared for. But I'd like to hear what you all think.
