Feeld says I have a new message but I don't see any

Twice today I have opened up Feeld to see a red dot below the text bubble icon but when I click it to get to my messages, there are no new messages nor new matches. I have tried closing and reopening the app and clearing the cache but the problem remains.
Is this happening to anyone else?
Does anyone know if the notification is the bug (viz., I don't really have messages) or if my new messages just are not showing?
For reference, I am on Android.
