Fedora for Servers
Post Body

Is fedora a good choice for a file server? I'm hoping to use this server for file storage and docker containters and im thinking Fedora would be a better fit over say , Ubuntu or CentOS because fedora ships newer kernels and whatnot also it has a completely functioning copy of cockpit in its repos ( Ubuntu currently cannot provide this).

I have not used fedora in quite some time ( around 2011 was my last try) so i have a few general questions Google was not really helpful in regard to:

  • How long is a version of fedora supported?
  • Are upgrade installs feasible?
  • is upgrading from one version to the next going to be an issue? ( am i better off doing it over the internet or making another install media)

EDIT: I should clarify , this is for a home server, not a production environment
