Express here in socal and this week has been a complete mess. Volume has gone down but now with late freight coming in everyday start times are being pushed back. When the late freight comes in it usually hasn't been much, less than 500 pieces. Barely enough hours to go around and people are being sent home or barely getting 3 to 5 hours with the late freight that comes in. This week I'll be looking at 15 to 20 hours total maybe less and I'm a swing full time. Regular drivers not wanting to go home cus the volume is low and there routes are easy. Personally iv been taking the time off to take care of myself and spend time with family. since I live really close to the station I don't mind not working long hours since I don't spend on gas. But I do know other drivers who are contemplating looking elsewhere if this continues. There is some worry in the station about the recent layoffs announced at the top but management sent a broadcast assuring us that there will be no layoffs here.. but who knows if that's true...
