How long should I wait before inquiring into a "delayed" package?

Post Body

A shipment of two phones that was due to reach us yesterday by 4:00 P.M. suddenly turned to "pending" and "delayed". The last we saw it was on the truck leaving Chicago, which is pretty near where we live, and we received a shipment from FedEx on the same day, so I suspect something has gone wrong in-shipment.

When should I contact FedEx about it?

Obviously not the end of the world, but we're both bummed because our existing phones are on their last legs and are worried about the other horror stories we've heard of phones being stolen/pending/in-transit for weeks.

Edit: Literally moments after posting, my wife called me to let me know she'd called FedEx - when she put the tracking number into the phone system, it said it was "delivered at 1:00 pm", which is false and also not reflected in online tracking. When she talked to support, they said that it was on a truck in southern Indiana for some reason? A state away, as opposed to less than an hour yesterday, but they said they couldn't scan it for some reason, which is why it wasn't updated. No idea, really.
