Will fedex pay for ruined perishable?

I went to the Bahamas recently and found some chocolates and a small rum cake that I knew my mother and brother, respectively, would enjoy. I live in Pennsylvania and they live in Ohio.

So, I shipped the items with a delivery date of 10/10/2021. Obviously it wasn't delivered that day. Was scheduled for today but now says delivery pending. These items are only available in the Bahamas.

If they go bad because of this delay. Assuming it's delayed another two days, will fedex be forced to pay for the items that went bad?

Yes, I know know to not use fedex.
