This will probably sound kind of weird . . .
We have several pets, including two cats. I've been curious in general to see how they might react to the new baby, but hadn't given a ton of thought to whether they might react to the pregnancy itself.
One of the cats has always been affectionate, and enjoys being petted, but has always had a hard time settling down in a lap and actually snuggling. For the past week or so, though, she's been climbing up to where I'm sitting, vigorously kneading my (right now just discernible) bump, licking it through my shirt, and purring. As far as I could tell, the other cat could give a s***. I pointed it out to my husband and he said she hasn't done anything like that to him.
Has anyone experienced anything like this? It doesn't seem that crazy to me that a pet might be able to detect hormonal changes, but this still caught me by surprise.
Just curious if anyone else has noticed something like this, or is collecting any new weird pet stories as things progress . . .
