Jonathan Chait calls political correctness a "style of politics in which the more radical members of the left attempt to regulate political discourse by defining opposing views as bigoted and illegitimate". Is there an equivalent to this on the political right, and if so, what is it?
Do you think that excessively dismissing people's viewpoints/opinions not just as wrong but as bigoted and illegitimate is a big enough problem to be a concern? Do you have any interesting stories of it happening to you?
What does it take for you to call something bigoted, sexist, racist, etc.? Do you put in any effort to avoid overusing those terms or having them be an easy way to dismiss people you disagree with?
