Hello reddit, after a bit of a bad move on my part, and battles against the encroaching hard drive failures on my laptop, it's finally decided to die. now, i'm back on my old 2000 VPR matrix computer, which still amazingly runs.
I know it might seem rude to ask, but i was wondering, if any redditors here have older computer parts they might be willing to part with. i sadly don't have much money right now, Just got a job and all the money is gonna be spent repairing our house ((I live with my dad, who's supported me even after i couldn't find a lasting job for nearly two years)) our bill is a hot water tank, a few air conditioners, and then the catching up on both his and my credit cards ((i'm roughly 2000$ in the whole, a drop in the bucket compared to him sadly.)) so it might be awhile before i could pay for some of these if redditors require it. so please, if you have some parts, but wan money for them, please still message me! i'll see if i can't work something out.
Now to the good part. The computer is pretty old 2000-2001 ish. It's a VPR matrix computer running windows XP home edition. currently, i've got about a gig of ram (had more, one of the sticks which was a 512 got corrupted somehow, having it in the computer now will make it even refuse to start up.) it's got an N-vidia, Geforce FX 5200. the monitor i have is good though, thankfully, it's an old CRt but i'm not complaining, it's nice and clear and has lasted just as long as the computer. the disk drives burnt out somehow, but i got an external disk drive for that. All i really need is ram and a graphics upgrade. My computer only Has PCI slots though, not even PCI express, so i've been told that it can only take certain cards. I was just wondering if any redditors had some of this older stuff laying around, i'll pay for it if i can, but that might take awhile
