I just had an ultrasound today because Iāve been having some gastrointestinal issues and my doctor wanted to be thorough. Apparently the ultrasound indicated āmild parenchyma coarsened echo texture of the liver, likely related to hepatocellular disease and/or hepatic steatosisā. I had a brief conversation on the phone with my primary care provider and she mentioned fatty liver briefly but didnāt say much else. I am only 22 years old, I hardly drink and never have so much (maybe once or twice a month Iāll have a couple drinks out, but nothing crazy at all) and I am relatively lean with a normal range BMI! Admittedly I am pretty sedentary, but I am a nanny so Iām always on the go and walk for an hour or so a few times a week. I also am a very healthy eater, and always have been! I hardly eat fast food or anything super processed.
I had mono in November, so about 6 months ago now. My liver enzymes shot up like crazy at the time, but they are completely normal now.
Is it possible that I definitely do have fatty liver? I am really nervous and confused. Could the mono have contributed to this? And are there other ways to treat/reverse it?
