Post Body

My first born son is now 19 months old. He is strong and developing healthy in every aspect, except spoken language. He babbles alot and even seems like he's talking with his body language, but not real words. Most literature says around 18 months they should have about 10 words (baby, cookie, hungry, hot type words) he has about 3 at best and not strong or consistent. Most consistently is kitty (we have a cat) even then sounds more like Keey. I get Daa which I think is dada but never the second da. Mama says she's heard a few random other things but nothing repeating or consistent. He understands well, you can say give this to mama or throw this away and he will do it. We sing and read and narrate our actions, but starting to worry about his language skills.

I wonder if the pandemic has had an affect, less crowds of people socializing, mask over peoples face while out and about. Any other kids currently in same age group noticing delayed talking?

I know ever kid develops at there own pace, but he's our first so nothing else to go by. Any insights?
