Why are some planted plots identified on the map and others aren't?

When I look at my map some areas I have fenced off that have full plots show the icon of the plant in the plots, but other fenced off areas don't. Does this make sense? I go to other folks' farms and see everything nicely labelled and I get jealous, haha. This screenshot might clarify what I'm asking...the white circled areas both have Rice in them, but why does one area show the icon and the other does not? Thanks for any insight.
