Community Shield: FPL Review
Post Body

The community shield is usually a good review of both teams and can give some good indication for what teams might look like for the start of next season:

Man City:

Doku - A very bright spark all game. Looked very dangerous and kept on doing what he is well known for. Still have the obvious issue of rotation (more so now with Savio too) but had a good game

Haaland - A slightly quiet game but still looked like a threat at time. We already know what is needed from him though.

Savio - Similar to Doku. Came on and begun causing problems for the Utd fullbacks straight away. Again still not really an option due to rotation.

Lewis - Very impressive and I suspect should be getting way more minutes this season, especially if you think Walker is on the decline. Was very attacking too and had good linkup with the likes of Bobb further forward.

Bobb - One of city’s best players. Could be a real option to start the season at only 5m given some of the City late returns. Was named the player of the match and deservedly so. Could be nice to have to start the season but im not so sure long term.

Gvardiol - I thought he was quite poor. Even for fpl, he wasn’t getting far enough forward for me to warrant a high price tag. Possibly just a bit rusty and maybe he will have the license to go slightly forward vs easier teams. Could’ve been told to sit deeper because of the Utd counterattacks.

Man Utd:

Amad - Similar to Bobb, was probably Utds best player in the first half. Almost involved with a goal and was causing big problems. Very involved and for 5m looks like a good buy too. However, it must be noted that when Ten Hag wanted a change, he was the first winger off before Rashford and his replacement didn’t do too bad either.

Bruno - Looked like what was expected of him. Had an unfortunate disallowed goal but still got the assist for Garnacho’s goal. Played some lovely passes and probably deserved more. Once again, Utds main creator. Just a question of if you think he’s worth 8.5m.

Garnacho - For me he was Utds best player (for the time he was on the pitch for). Again looked like the main threat and could’ve scored even more than one. Took his goal very nicely and could be in for a great improvement to the season. Granted he was on vs tired legs, which is what he’s usually best at but he still looked very impressive and looks like a very good option for 6.5m. Only issue is if you think he start gameweek 1.

Rashford - Had a poor game but if you look at it from the point of view of points potential, he could’ve easily had 2 goals or more today. Was in the good positions but just had no finishing. Still looks like he is Ten Hags main trusted man, above all of the other wingers. Could return to fine form again this season. Still a gamble to pick though.

Mount - Honestly looked useless to me. Not really involved and didn’t do much. Don’t think he even starts come gameweek 1.

Any Utd defenders - I wouldn’t go near. Still looked shaky and this was against a weak City team. Not convinced right now.

Any players I missed or you disagree with my view on? Please let me know.
