A United fan's view on all of our FPL assets.
Post Body

Take from this what you will. I've played FPL for over 10 years, I watch 95% of United's games, and generally spend way too much time thinking about football. If you need a push towards one player or another, then maybe this post will help you along? I put players who aren't really a viable option for you in spoilers so you can focus on the main players.

Want the TL;DR version? Onana or Shaw for defensive cover, Rashford is your safest option against Bruno, and Højlund could become a fantastic option if he's priced reasonably.

Goalkeepers

  • Onana (5.0) - One of your best options for those sweet clean sheets and is likely to pick up a lot of points. He completely changes how we build-up and control games, so I expect as many clean sheets as last season. He'll also contribute towards the build-up and will likely stack up on bonus points through his passes, which is nice. He's one of the safest bets in the team for FPL.

Henderson (4.5) - He's a solid keeper and will likely be a great asset for the next team he joins (likely to leave but things are dragging out). Great price and a fair shout in his own right.

Heaton (4.0) - If you go Onana and don't want to play the rotation game, you could throw Heaton in just in case Onana ever gets injured just so you can invest the points elsewhere. Or as others have pointed out, don't do that if you don't want to waste a United player slot. You do you though.

Defenders

  • Shaw (5.5) - You don't need me to tell you good Shaw is. He's solid defensively (Bonus Points magnet), will grab you a few assists (sometimes takes indirect set-pieces too) and is nailed on to start if he is fit. For me, he's your best FPL option. Shocker, I know.
  • Dalot (5.0) - Here's the thing, I love Dalot. He was in my GW1 team last season after an impressive pre-season and worked out to be a great pick for a while. Consider him the best offensive defender in our team and more than capable of assisting and scoring. Would I pick him? No. See AWB.
  • Martinez (5.0) - If for some reason you want to pick a United defender that costs 5.0, Martinez would be your best option as he's guaranteed starter. I'm not saying he's a good FPL asset but he can play a role if that's what you need from him.
  • Varane (5.0) - Basically the same as Martinez but he is insanely injury prone. Don't waste your time.
  • Lindelof (4.5) - Lindelof has actually been great for me in the past. When one of our starting CB's are injured, he's going to be your cheapest option for our CS points. But he's only considered a backup player and will be out of the team once they're fit again. One to keep in mind.
  • Wan-Bissaka (4.5) - Here's the kicker. ETH see's AWB and Dalot as tactical rotation options. He leaned towards AWB towards the end of the season but he is a rotation risk. This is especially true when you mix in cup games. Unless he becomes locked in the PL, it's best to not waste the spot.

Maguire (4.5) - Not even considered as backup/rotation for LCB ahead of Shaw under ETH. Not a FPL asset at all. Should he move to another team however? He's a great price for a guaranteed starter with a set-piece threat. He's not likely to move this window though.

Malacia (4.5) - Back-up to Shaw but not a FPL asset to you. Maybe if Shaw gets a long-term injury he might be an option but I still wouldn't bother.

Williams (4.0) - You're not going to see him play for United in the PL unless there is an injury crisis.

Bailly (4.0) - Even I forgot he was still at the club.

Fernandez (4.0) - Played some games in Pre-Season and looked tidy. But again, not going to play and likely to be loaned out.

Mengi (4.0) - Again, likely to be loaned out.

Midfielders

  • Rashford (9.0) - Last season, Rashford carried the team offensively. He was absolutely our talisman and we owe a lot to his hot streak. This season, I think we will see him evolve into a more consistent goal threat from LW and the scoring duties will be better shared across our attack—especially with Højlund coming into the picture. I'm hopeful for 20 G/A in all.
  • Fernandes (8.5) - If my prediction about United becoming a better balanced scoring team becomes true, then I anticipate that Bruno will have diminishing FPL returns too. He will 100% remain our most creative force, but I suspect he will start assisting the assister a lot more. Rather than a through ball through to Rashford to dribble it in and get a shot off, I fully expect to see more cutbacks and putting it into dangerous areas for Højlund to get the chance instead.
    • I still think he'll grab 15 G/A but Rashford has nearly double Bruno's ownership. If you want the safe option, it's Rashford.
  • Antony (7.0) - Antony is an interesting one. If he's fit and available, I'd expect around 10 G/A from him. But he was injured a lot last season and I don't really imagine that to change. Also, he does put in a defensive shift so he's not the out-and-out attacking winger you'd want him to be/when compared to other options on the market. I'd take him if he cost around 6.0 but not 7.0.
  • Sancho (7.0) - Oh boy. We all know what Sancho could do. Based off his potential, you'd expect around 20 G/A a season. He has been playing as a False 9 over pre-season, which suggests ETH is opening his attack range to cover the entirety of the front three positions. Only an option if he's able to hold down a position in the team, until then, look elsewhere.

Mount (7.0) - No doubt will become a great player for United, but he's likely to act as a complete box-to-box type Midfielder for us rather than a playmaker. Hopeful he'll fetch around 100 points come the end of the season. Could be an option for you but better options exist.

Eriksen (6.0) - I think Eriksen could become an interesting choice. 1 goal and 9 assists last season and more than capable of equalling that (and hopefully score some more goals). Wait and see how he rotates with Mount of the season and hope for his price to drop. But again, better options out there for you right now.

Casemiro (5.5) - Obviously, no one should be picking a defensive midfielder for their squad, but I will tell you this—he is a goal threat! But his real value is in his ability to make us defensively solid, and how that translates to the team being better. If he's out the team, then be mindful that the defence will likely suffer as a result.

Fred (5.0) - Although he is likely to be sold, if he stays in the Prem (Fulham linked) and he plays consistently, I have a little hutch he could become a bit of an undervalued asset. He has goals in his arsenal and if he's played close to goal, then he's definitely one to watchlist at this price.

Garnacho (5.0) - Great talent and just an all-round exciting player. I expect he's likely to make his best returns from the bench, and that makes him a pass for FPL. But when the injuries pile up, he might get a crack at being a consistent starter. At that point, keep an eye on him.

McTominay (5.0) - He's our utility man. Can play anywhere from CB, DM, CM, and AM but he's only starting through rotation or injuries. Anyway, avoid.

Van de Beek (5.0) - Ahh Donny. Like Sancho, he could become so much more. But lack of form, injuries, and better starters means he's likely to just be a part of the B squad and maybe even sold. Definitely could become something special for us but likely won't.

Amad (4.5) - Great player who is in line for some minutes. Unfortunately, he picked up an injury and will miss the start of the season. In any case, he's more an option for cup competitions and bench appearances for now.

Hannibal (4.5) - Don't really think he has a place in our squad and I imagine will be loaned out again. Loves a yellow card though so there's that.

Mainoo (4.5) - Looked great in pre-season and is likely to become Casemiro's understudy. But not someone you should look into for now.

Pellistri (4.5) - Similar to Amad, he might get some minutes this season if he doesn't go out on loan. But nothing dependable and certainly down the pecking order in the Premier League.

Forwards

  • Martial (6.5) - Not a FPL asset but listen up. Ten Hag described Martial as his model Striker. He went as far as to say United play their best football when he is in the team. The stats back this up too, with a significantly higher win percentage with him over without him. So why should you care?
  • Højlund (0.0) - Because Højlund also fits the same model. We can expect his presence to change how we play both in and out of possession. He reportedly has a great ability to make near-post runs, and he is someone ETH will build the team around. Wait and see how he gets used (likely eased into the first team) but if he's coming in around 6.5 - 7.5 then he could become a fantastic shortcut into United's attacking returns.

Shoretire (4.5) - Likely to leave on loan or just play within our youth setup.
