Night One:

Open Challenge: Shingo Takagi vs. ???

Upon the event being announced, some of New Japan's finest were announced for it, and as the week passed by — it became clear, there was no spot for Shingo Takagi! Feeling disrespected, he would issue an open challenge to kick-off the show, which would be answered by... CLAUDIO CASTAGNOLI! Proving his worth to AEW, Claudio would capture the victory over the former IWGP World Champion!

Hiromu Takahashi def. Darby Allin

Since capturing his third BOSJ trophy, Hiromu Takahashi has said that he's the pinnacle of the Junior Division, and that noone in AEW comes close in terms of his abilities. Looking for a challenge like no other, Darby Allin took part in this dream match. Though Darby showed incredible resilience, Takahashi continued to back up his claim, as he picks up the victory!

KENTA def. Samoa Joe

Carrying the ROH Television Championship with the utmost pride, it came to a screeching halt once a surprise visit from KENTA took place! Costing Joe the rich prize didn't come without consequences, as he looked for vengeance. Nonetheless, his emotions got the better of him and instead fell into an unconscious state after a G2S!

LIJ (Tetsuya Naito, Andrade El Idolo, & RUSH) def. House Of Black (Malakai Black, Buddy Matthews, & Brody King)

For the past month or so, House Of Black have run roughshod over the Tag Division, and in the wake of their dominance, they've targeted a specific individual the most — Andrade El Idolo! On the final Dynamite before Forbidden Door, another attack took place, before a shocking appearance by Tetsuya Naito & RUSH took place, saving his former ally! They took this momentum heading into the PPV, and captured a meaningful victory in their reunion!

Eddie Kingston def. Jun Akiyama

Since Eddie Kingston debuted in AEW, he's only been able to capture one PPV victory, which has led to Tony Khan's reluctance to allow him to represent AEW against New Japan. However, with Jun Akiyama's name added to this year's lineup, Kingston wouldn't take no for an answer, and promised that if he couldn't secure the victory in his dream match, he'd walk away. Luckily enough for him, in an absolutely stellar encounter, Kingston was able to put away the legend!

FTR(c) def. G.O.D., United Empire(c), & Best Friends - Fatal Four Way Ladder Double Title Clash

After capturing the AEW Tag Team Championships, FTR invited any team to challenge them, which three duos elected to! Not only that, but both FTR & United Empire elected to defend both titles, to see who the best team in the world was! In it's conclusion, FTR climbed up to their destiny, and became dual champions!

Kazuchika Okada (c) def. Adam Page - IWGP World Championship

After failing to recapture the AEW World Championship against CM Punk, Adam Page fell into a quick slump, letting out a more aggressive side to him, that hadn't been seen since his New Japan days. Feeling desperate to find his own path back to title contention, he would lay down the challenge to Okada, which he would accept. Nonetheless, once we reached Chicago, Page was unable to secure the victory, as Okada secured yet another retention.

Night Two:

Bryan Danielson def. Zack Sabre Jr.

After years of back-and-forth bickering, the matchup is finally made official, as Danielson/ZSJ finally happens in Chicago! Nonetheless, after one of the finest technical contests of the entire event, Danielson was able to back up his claim, and prove that he's undeniably the best technical wrestler in the world!

Miro def. Kota Ibushi

After a hiatus, the news broke that Kota Ibushi would be returning to the world of professional wrestling! Almost immediately, a target was put directly on his back, as Miro wanted to ensure Ibushi wasn't able to redeem himself, and that his return didn't come without consequences. In Ibushi's return match, he pulled out all of the stops, but it wasn't enough, as Miro was able to choke him out!

Jon Moxley & Shooter Umino def. Jeff Cobb & Great O'Khan

After a gruesome victory at Blood & Guts, Moxley decided to speak directly to the AEW faithful the following week. Stating that he wanted to return to the World Title picture, but he was soon ambushed, by the United Empire! From there, the attacks continued for weeks, until he eventually stated that he'll see them both in Chicago, and unlike that night, he'll have backup! Both Moxley and Umino were able to work insanely well together, and pick up the victory!

PAC def. Tomohiro Ishii - All Atlantic Championship

Heading into Forbidden Door, it was announced that a 16-man tournament would take place, where 8 of AEW's finest, and 8 of New Japan's finest would battle it out... and now we have reached the FINALS! Both PAC and Ishii battled it out, with PAC coming out with his first AEW Championship!

Bullet Club (Jay White & The Young Bucks) vs. The Undisputed Elite (Adam Cole, Kyle O'Reilly, & Bobby Fish)

In the fallout of Double or Nothing, Jay White proved where his allegiance lied, as he costed Adam Cole his opportunity at capturing the Owen Hart Trophy! Aswell as this, The Young Bucks decided to side with White. In this stable war, it was Bullet Club who walked away with the victory, proving the trio to be merely unstoppable!

Kenny Omega def. Will Ospreay

Kota Ibushi made an appearance at the event's press conference, where The United Empire ambushed him from behind! With this being Ospreay's way of getting Omega out of the shadows, it would lead to Omega's return, where he was able to justify his revenge and walk out with a triumphant victory!

CM Punk (c) vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi - AEW World Championship

After successfully retaining the AEW World Championship over Hangman Page, Hiroshi Tanahashi made his presence known, and challenged the champion to a dream match! In Punk's hometown, he was able to prevail, and continue his historic reign!
