Post Flair (click to view more posts with a particular flair)
Post Body

The Broserweights had a solid 11 month run, filled with some of the best memories these two individual talents could have dreamt of, including toppling some of the best in the division! Unfortunately, beautiful things always have to come to an end, and on September 10th, the former NXT Tag Team Champions saw their Cinderella run reach their conclusion as a duo. But, not without their relationship going with it aswell, after falling to Imperium for a second time, The Bruiserweight beat down his former partner in the form of Matt Riddle, finally snapping after months of pent up rage. With this stage of his career seemingly coming to it's resolution, it only opens up another door, one that he can only open on his own.

Build to NXT Takeover 31:

WWE NXT - September 16th, 2020

In the fallout of sending Matt Riddle to his ultimate doom following a distasteful defeat, it is announced well before-hand that he will be given the week off to recuperate, which gives the newly unhinged Pete Dunne a platform to speak his mind surrounding his recent actions. Right on cue, he strides out from behind the curtain, with a confident strut behind his step for the first time in nearly three months, a look of power beaming from his eyes as he continues to do so.

Grabbing a microphone, he states that for years he struggled in the United Kingdom attempting to build himself up as the next big thing, while Matt Riddle spent his days as some rich party boy, who proceeded to wash out in the world of UFC and was simply handed this chance in the WWE. Throughout all of this, not once were they friends, not even allies, but rather partners purely due to circumstance. Furthermore, he wishes Riddle a speedy recovery, saying that throughout all of this, he will and always will be the superior wrestler, whether Riddle chooses to believe it or not. The Original Bro isn't important to him or his success, but one thing indeed is - THE NXT CHAMPIONSHIP!

WWE NXT - September 23rd, 2020

With Matt Riddle given a week off for solely a recuperation period, he is yet to be cleared for in-ring action, but is able to provide an update on his condition for the NXT Universe via satellite from his own home. In response to Dunne's remarks from the prior week, he goes on to state that his former partner lives in a false reality, the entire reason they worked well together, was due to the trust they built up as a team. However, that's all gone, without a second thought The Bruiserweight traded that all away for a shot at stardom. But he won't sit idly and watch Dunne's heart-wrenching decisions be rewarded with a title shot, and while he may not be medically cleared at the moment, he will find his way back home, promising to take care of the unfinished business that Dunne left behind.

WWE NXT - September 30th, 2020

The following week, Pete Dunne gets a chance to shine against one of NXT's finest, Trent Seven! Both men showcase their individual talents for the world to witness, their past history stretching throughout the entirety of the globe, not to mention their diverse wrestling styles, made for one hell of a back-and-forth encounter. While Dunne used more of a ground game approach, Seven made it his mission to execute a more powerful dynamic to his arsenal, which pushed his opposition to his absolute limit, the complete opposite of an easy night for The Broserweight. Eventually they go through the motions, the memories of Boston all coming back to him, with his rage-filled eyes staring daggers at one half of Moustache Mountain, as a Bitter End was all it took to seal up the deal, giving Pete Dunne the victory he had craved for some time now.

Upon securing the win, Dunne demands for his arm to be raised, his request is hesitantly obliged by the assigned official, but that simply isn't enough for him. Instead, he chooses to continue the beatdown, attacking Seven's multiple limbs and fingers, showing off the brutal nature that has been hidden for so long, but now it's all being revealed front-and-center. Looking to visibly break a couple of those fingers, "Hey Bro" blares over the PA System, signaling the imminent return of one Matt Riddle... IS IT HIM?! IT IS! He comes flying down the entrance ramp and into the ring, taking down the man that put him on the shelf! A double-legged takedown, quickly transitions into a knee-strike, but before he can continue on with his sweet revenge, Dunne smartly rolls out of the ring to avoid any further damage, but this isn't even close to being settled...

WWE NXT - October 7th, 2020

With both men laying claims to the NXT Championship, and the undeniable history between the two, a #1 Contender matchup is made official by General Manager William Regal, taking place at NXT Takeover 31! With the winner taking on Finn Balor on an unconfirmed date, their first televised singles encounter is going to be a highly meaningful one, as Regal wishes them luck, stating that they will certainly need it. Almost immediately following this, a video package begins to play over the titantron, showcasing the two men's history with one another, from forming as a formidable duo and outlasting some of the finest in the NXT Tag Division, to claim victory as the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic 2020 Winners. All the way to becoming the champions, and to where it all ended, the frustration boiling over, all led to Dunne taking out his former partner. Now seeking for some much-needed vengeance, it all leads to this Sunday, but a few words from the two participants first...

Pete Dunne starts us off, beginning his remarks by stating that Matt Riddle was nothing before their team began, that he never arrived on the island of relevancy until The Broserweights were eventually formed. It's now clear based off his actions last week, that he simply doesn't realize what he had provided for Riddle in the past, but at Takeover 31 it will become crystal clear, especially when a chance at the richest prize in NXT is taken right from him. Riddle speaks next, shaking his head in disgust, he says that Dunne is simply delusional, what they had was trust, it had nothing to do with relevancy or was it a one-side street. This always worked two-ways, and now with the trust between the two of them completely shattered, he will do anything to seek his revenge and earn a shot at Finn Balor's NXT Championship, this Sunday will be his night.

NXT Takeover 31 - October 11th, 2020

Matt Riddle v. Pete Dunne - NXT Championship #1 Contender Match

As the semi-main event of the night has arrived, Matt Riddle seemingly makes his way out from the back first, his usual goofy antics aren't present, but rather a much more serious manner is represented upon his face, with this matchup clearly meaning more to him than some others. Continuing his stride down the entrance ramp, his eyes stare daggers at the ring, the past month of emotional trauma all coming from right there, inside the squared circle, as he enters through the middle rope and takes a couple of heavy deep breaths, before calling for his opposition to do the same. Right on cue, here he comes, with an entire new aura behind him! - Bruiserweight blares over the PA System, a new iteration of it aswell, spicing it all up he is, as he marches down the ramp with a clear purpose, but he doesn't waste anytime once he joins his opponent in the ring, taking Riddle down with a double-legged takedown before the bell can even ring!

A flashback to a little under two weeks ago when Riddle returned, but now it's simply being used against him this time around, with this match yet to get underway, Dunne takes advantage of the situation, laying multiple nasty shots to Riddle's noggin, with each one passing by, the shots only become stronger. Desperately attempting to block them, this only frustrates Dunne more, landing one last one to Riddle's skull, he proceeds to pick him up, sending him down to the outside! The assigned official of this contest, must check on the grounded competitor, asking Riddle if he can continue, he simply nods, not looking to give up that easily, moments later he rolls under the bottom rope and back in the ring. The bell now officially ringing, this match is set to get underway, Riddle can barely move after the recent events occurring, but proceeds to give it his best shot, crawling over to Dunne and throwing punches that were only met with the silent air. Met with laughter aswell, he simply is bushed away by his opponent, not caring enough about him for any type of respect to be shown.

Beginning to kick Riddle over-and-over again in the head, these being gentle taps to it, instead of rough-looking strikes like usual. You can only make a few major mistakes before being caught, and that's exactly what was seen here, once one last kick was met with Riddle catching the leg, twisting it an awkward direction, sending Dunne right down to the canvas. For the first time in this contest, Riddle seems to be in the driver's seat, it wouldn't be for long however though, as Dunne kips up to his feet, running at The Original Bro and sending him right back down with a lariat! With Dunne still firmly in control, he makes his way over to his opponent once again, leaving multiple knee-strikes to the groin of Riddle, his face turning from a pale color to one resembling a ripe tomato, the multiple maneuvers clearly affecting him here, and it wouldn't get easier for him, as Dunne took firm control over Riddle's fingers now, twisting them in unimaginable ways, his opponent screaming in agony, as he places those said fingers down to the mat, proceeding to STOMP ON THEM ONE-BY-ONE!

He still isn't done, moving on from stomping on them, he looks to bite them aswell, fearing this, Riddle begins to place multiple left boots to the jaw of Dunne, which makes him let go of his grasp, and back up to the corner for some safety. Unfortunately for him though, this strategy came knocking right on his door, as Riddle went flying into the corner, LANDING A CLEAN FOREARM! PUTTING HIM BACK DOWN TO THE CANVAS BOTTOM-FIRST, HE REBOUNDS OFF THE ROPES AND CONNECTS WITH A LEG KICK TO THE CHEST! FEELING LIKE THIS IS POSSIBLY HIS MOMENT, HE LEAPS OFF THE ROPES ONCE MORE, ATTEMPTING FOR A BRO-TON, IT CONNECTS! 1...2...KICKOUT! THAT'S NOT ENOUGH FOR RIDDLE! He begins to tug at his hair, frustration beginning to finally settle in, with the only option going forward, being to continue on the attack, he lifts Dunne up for an attempted Deadlift German Suplex, but Dunne was able to swiftly escape and LANDS AN ENZUIGIRI!

He quickly transitions into an attempted german suplex, but Riddle is able to safely turn it around, and LAND ONE OF HIS OWN! Landing directly on his neck, Dunne of-course begins to tug on it, from a grounded position aswell. Riddle sensing this, he takes advantage by slowly lifting up his opposition, going for one last attempt at the Deadlift German Suplex, having him up mid-air now, Dunne would escape once again, GOING FOR AN ENZUIGIRI - NO! DEADLIFT GERMAN SUPLEX FINALLY CONNECTS, AS THE THIRD TIME IS A CHARM! 1...2...KICKOUT! DUNNE IS STILL IN THIS ONE! Obviously Riddle knows this isn't enough, but he believes he can finish it all off here, lifting his opponent up for a BRODEREK!!! 1...2... NOOOOO! DUNNE HAS KICKED OUT ONCE AGAIN, RIDDLE SIMPLY CANNOT BELIEVE IT, HE LOOKS FOR ONE LAST BRODEREK ATTEMPT, BUT ONCE HE DOES SO, DUNNE IS ABLE TO REVERSE THE MANEUEVER AND TRANSITION INTO A WELL-EXECUTED FLATTENING DDT!

The exhaustion beginning to settle in for Dunne, he simply can't get over to make the pinfall attempt, which gives Riddle some critical recovery time, after laying on the canvas for a full minute, both men are able to make it to a vertical position. They both engage in a war of words, followed up by some nice shots to eachother's skulls, trying to finally get the undeniable upper-hand, but one last forearm to the jaw leaves Riddle speechless, as an ATTEMPTED BITTEREND IS EXECUTED... BUT RIDDLE ROLLS THROUGH, PUTTING DUNNE INTO A ROLLUP... 1...2...3...! RIDDLE HAS DONE IT, HE ESCAPES WITH THE VICTORY! BARELY SURVIVING IN ALL HONESTY, BUT HE'S DONE IT!

Matt Riddle def. Pete Dunne to become the NXT #1 Contender (21:33)

Build to NXT Takeover: Wargames

WWE NXT - October 14th, 2020

Following NXT Takeover 31, Pete Dunne is seen inside General Manager William Regal's office, he starts the night off by demanding that he's inserted into the NXT Championship match this evening, and if he's not there will be no main event. However, instead of listening to any of Dunne's demands and cowering down to him, he instead demands that he leaves the building, or he will force security to do it for him, this past Sunday Dunne lost fair-and-square, and that he will just simply have to deal with it. Rage fills the eyes of Dunne, but he leaves on his own accord, slamming the door on his way out! Taking the best option out of the two, he is seen leaving the building on his own, but not happy about it at all, as he's lost a shot at the NXT title.

As for the main event, both Matt Riddle and Finn Balor put on one hell of a championship contest, both giving it their all for the richest prize in NXT. With the former still extremely hurt from his brutal contest against Pete Dunne just four nights prior, one of the best performers in the world in the form of Finn Balor brings it to his challenger, looking to continue his reign of dominance, it wasn't all easy, as Riddle tried his hardest to walk out as the brand new NXT Champion, using the majority of his arsenal along the way aswell. However, near the conclusion of this contest, a BroDerek looked to be executed, until Dunne's theme began to play over the PA System, Riddle completely focused on that, gave time for The Prince to land a 1916, followed by a Coup De Grace to successfully retain the NXT Championship, but not without some help!

Walking out with the title draped around his waist, Finn Balor points his finger guns at the ring before entering the backstage area, signifying that he was indeed victorious here tonight. But for Riddle, his night was far from over, as once he rises to his feet, HE IS ATTACKED BY PETE DUNNE! LAYING OUT HIS FORMER PARTNER ONCE AGAIN, BUT THIS TIME COSTING HIM THE NXT CHAMPIONSHIP! Looking to send not just him, but William Regal a message, he sends Riddle down to the canvas with a skull-crushing Bitter End, shouting out that they are far from done.

WWE NXT - October 21st, 2020

Following last week's actions, Pete Dunne sits down for an exclusive interview. When asked about the reasons he had for costing Riddle his chance at becoming NXT Champion, he simply shrugged then went on to state that The Original Bro just didn't deserve a shot at stardom, but he did. Almost two weeks ago at Takeover, Riddle got lucky, that's all that was, and all that will ever be. Getting a fluke win doesn't mean you deserve to be the heavyweight champion, so that's exactly why he interfered last week. He continued by saying that while he kept him down for three seconds, he made sure Riddle was down for ten, and that he wants yet another ten seconds, so he proposes that at NXT Takeover: Wargames, Riddle/Dunne II sees the light of day, in a... LAST MAN STANDING MATCH!

WWE NXT - October 28th, 2020

The following week after Pete Dunne had laid out the challenge for NXT Wargames, Matt Riddle is seen circling around outside the office of General Manager William Regal, he begins knocking on the door repeatedly until it's opened by the man himself. Before he can get a word out though, Riddle demands for a rematch against Pete Dunne in one month time, at NXT Takeover: Wargames! Regal obliges, stating that if he truly believes he wants this match, then he can have it, especially considering everything he's gone through these past couple of months, so he's got it. Almost immediately after, Cameron Grimes steps up to The Original Bro, laying out a challenge for later that night, ultimately stating that he won't survive Dunne the second time, and to prove that, he wants to lay out Riddle himself, wanting to prove that he should be in Riddle's position at the moment.

Later on in the evening, Matt Riddle goes one-on-one against Cameron Grimes, the latter proved to be quite the tough test for the former, it looked as this wasn't a warm-up match for Riddle, but rather the opposite. These two proved to be NXT's finest, with their abilities showcasing just that, even with Grimes coming close to claiming victory, it was not enough to put away The Original Bro, as he just seemed way too focused. By the end of it all, Grimes would fall to Riddle once a BroDerek was connected, signaling a huge victory for him here! Upon having his hand raised, much-like when he first returned, a double-legged takedown was hit, but this time it was The Broserweight who connected with it. Coming from beyond the barricade, the attack is on, Dunne brutally lays out Riddle, once he was fully down, he began to count to the number ten, telling Riddle that this was his fate come NXT Takeover: Wargames.

WWE NXT - November 11th, 2020

After both men had been asked to stay home last week by William Regal, both Pete Dunne and Matt Riddle return to NXT this week, unsure of what's in-store for them, it leaves Dunne wandering the backstage area. With the camera's view pointing directly on him, he struts down that same hallway aimlessly, until he's viciously attacked by Matt Riddle. Smashing his forearm into the side of Dunne's head, he begins to use the backtage area's equipment to his advantage, sending his former partner not only into them, but at him aswell. The attack isn't physically stopped until security on-hand has to separate them from one another, with Regal eventually stepping in and stating that if there's anymore physical interaction between the two from now until Wargames, than the march will be off!

Furthermore, the General Manager announces that these two will partake in an official contract signing for their Last Man Standing encounter at NXT Takeover: Wargames, next week. He hopes that they can keep their hands off eachother until then and during the signing, because this is certainly getting out of control, and he can't handle it alone. Regal looks absolutely frustrated, storming off back into his office, slamming the door behind him, asking to be left alone for the time being.

WWE NXT - November 18th, 2020

It has come, it's time for the official contract signing between both Matt Riddle and Pete Dunne. They both make their way down their ring individually, followed by NXT General Manager, William Regal. Once everyone is settled down, the two competitors partaking in the upcoming contest are asked to sit down in their respective rolling chair, so that they could get this underway. Before signing the contract, each individual is given a chance to speak their mind of any concerns or remarks they would like to spoute out about. Dunne goes first as per-usual, he speaks on how Riddle has been a huge pain in his ass for these past couple of months, and all of this, all that they are dealing with, is all due to his childish antics. The reason they lost the tag belts was all on him, their breakup was all on him, everything that has occurred since then is ALL ON HIM! And at NXT Takeover: Wargames, the reason for his career coming to an abrupt end, is all based on his own actions, plain and simple.

Riddle is up next, he states that Dunne never wanted to work as a team, but rather work on his own. This being due to his undeniable stubbornness, but rather than blame himself for their failure, he blamed his partner instead, and that's why everything came crashing down around him. Dunne couldn't take the NXT Takeover 31 loss with his chin-up, but rather made it his mission to make sure Riddle didn't have anything either, but now with the tables turned, Riddle wants to make sure that he keeps Dunne down for good, or atleast ten seconds. And come this Sunday, he will walk out with his hand raised once again, this time in a definitive manner.

NXT Takeover: Wargames - November 22nd, 2020

Matt Riddle v. Pete Dunne - Last Man Standing Match

After months-and-months of frustration boiling over for both men, Riddle/Dunne II has made it's way to the Amway Center! The only way to win this contest is to keep your opponent down long enough, for the referee to reach the count of 10, a difficult task no doubt, but I'm sure these two are up for the task. "Hey Bro" blasts through the PA System as the unique tune echos throughout Orlando. The cheers begin to rain through the cheers as the Florida faithful refuses to go against their boy tonight in the form of The Original Bro, Matt Riddle. As the challenger steps out from the curtain, every step feels more motivated than the one that followed it, as the threatening march of the Pennsylvania native only shows the hunger that this competitor has for this sport, as Riddle reaches the ring, he gets onto the apron, stepping into the ring and gesturing a title belt around his waist, as he calls for the champion to make his way from beyond the curtain.

Brushing the curtain aside, every motion the NXT Champion makes is premeditated as he slowly steps out, step-by-step as boos begin to rain throughout the arena, clearly against The Broserweight here tonight.. He begins to unstrap his belt and holds it up in the air to a even more of a negative reponse from the fans in attendance, his eyes directly staring daggers at Riddle, with a large grin as the bell we’ve all been longing for is just moments away. Walking down the stage, the reality of the situation begins to set in for both men as the time for talk is officially over and all that’s left to do is fight it out to see who the baddest truly is. As both men stand in their corners, the ring announcer begins to introduce both competitors, as this championship contest, gets underway...

As the bell would sound, it would echo throughout the arena as both men would look around the arena feeling the energy that had been presented around them. The match would officially begin with Matt Riddle racing out of the gates, striking Dunne with a big knee strike in the corner. Pummeling his opponent, Riddle would try to get the early advantage in this one but would be pushed off by an annoyed champion. Looking to keep up the attack, he would rush into the corner once more, looking for a lariat in the corner this time around, but once again it would be evaded, as Dunne is able to duck and strike his opposition with one of his own. He would look to pick him up, grabbing him by his lengthy hair before Riddle thwarted this attempt, LANDING A HUGE GERMAN SUPLEX INSTEAD!

This began the first count of the contest, but unfortunately it would only keep the champion down for the count of four, It is soon clear that Riddle has the clear advantage for the time being, and that theme seems to continue for quite sometime, while Dunne was able to maintain some momentum here-and-there, the hunger and drive of Riddle seemed to be too much to handle a lot of the time, this being until the final moments of this contest, where after multiple nine counts, and close patches of victory, a DOUBLE SUPLEX THROUGH THE TABLE, LED TO DUNNE GETTING UP AT THE COUNT OF NINE, AND RIDDLE BEING UNABLE TO! HE RETAINS OUT OF PURE LUCK, NOTHING MORE, NOTHING LESS!

Pete Dunne def. Matt Riddle (30:34)

After this absolute war, the two men are able to get to their feet minutes later, but just barely... Upon reaching to their feet, it seems Dunne is looking to make amends, picking Riddle up after a hard-fought battle. But just as it seemed he might have found a new heart, HE SMASHES RIDDLE RIGHT IN THE FACE! The attack continues from here, but this is a much more vicious beating than before, as he looks to send his former partner to the shelf for good, after smashing a chair onto Riddle numerous times, he is taken on a stretcher, and taken into an ambulance, as Dunne just simply shrugs at his disgusting actions, not feeling any sort of remorse at all.
