Post Body

The AEW World Championship was first unveiled on May 25th, 2019 at the initial Double Or Nothing event, and since then there has been only three champions associated with All Elite Wrestling's most prestigious belt. Furthermore, a little over a month ago at "Winter Is Coming", Kenny Omega was able to dethrone Jon Moxley and begin his first reign as AEW World Champion, but not without a little help of-course. The surprising twist of the night, saw Impact's own Don Callis provide the needed distraction to secure the victory for Omega, and with a working relationship of his own with one of the best in the world, AEW would never be the same going into the new year...

Build To AEW Revolution 2021:

AEW New Year's Smash - January 6th, 2021

Kenny Omega (c) v. Rey Fenix - AEW World Championship Match

With currently 35 days as AEW World Champion, Kenny Omega gets set to make his first defense with the title in the New Year's Smash main event! His challenger embarks on his journey down the ramp first, with one of the finest Lucha Libre talents in the world in the form of Rey Fenix looking to acquire his first World Championship out of Mexico. He enters the ring, pacing around it quite swiftly with his intentions well known as he gestures a title belt around his waist. Kenny Omega is out next, he is accompanied by Don Callis, who holds onto his client's title, until he eventually hands it to him upon request. They both take their time making it to the squared circle, before solely the champion locks eyes with his challenger, they then proceed to back up into their individual corners.

As traditionally done, a lock-up begins this contest, with a test of strength almost immediately following. The much-stronger competitor in the form of Omega is able to force his opposition into the corner, he crashes into the ribs of his challenger like a bull in a China shop, back-and-forth his shoulder thrusts into the targeted area. The specific attack continues until one last shoulder thrust is reversed, Fenix quickly moving out of the way, he begins to land countless devastating kick attacks to the shin of the champion, finishing a seamless combo of maneuvers with a slight push to the chest of his opponent. Omega seems quite amused, not exactly expecting the courage that Fenix just showcased, but that doesn't stop the two from once again going at it. They both once again lock in a vicious-looking lock-up, which ends up with Fenix on the canvas, after a well-executed headlock is now locked in. This is quickly transitioned into a scissors-lock, Omega's long legs suffocating the 163 pounder.

Fenix is clearly in pain, as he attempts to scream in agony, but is unable to due to his lack of breathing ability. He desperately tries to fight out of the strangling hold, rolling into a bridged roll-up...1...2...KICKOUT! Omega's face shows a sense of disbelief, knowing that his defeat could've been right there, Fenix still has ahold of Kenny's waist however, as he rolls over and lands a german suplex! A showcase of strength shown by the challenger, but he is yet to be done, he picks him up once more and looks for a vintage handspring cutter...unluckily for him though, Omega catches him red-handed and looks to set him up for a suplex of his own, FENIX INSTEAD LANDS ON HIS FEET AND PUTS DOWN HIS OPPONENT WITH A HURRICANRANA! The crowd's excitement continues to grow, as Omega's shins continue to be targeted, especially given them being wrenched an awkward way following a priceless double foot stomp, he grabs his right shin almost immediately.

A more aggressive side of Fenix is shown thus far, as he is clearly doing whatever it takes to become AEW World Champion. He looks to continue the attack on the targeted area of the right shin, with this time an attempted double knee strike, but Omega is able to get out of the way in the nick of time, securing both of his feet on the surface of the squared circle and lands an unexpected Dragon Rush! Upon the impact, Fenix staggers to the nearest ropes, trying to grasp onto them to for any possible leverage, he is able to accomplish this and stand on his two feet willingly, but is knocked right back down with a clothesline over the top rope! Starting to feel this contest going his way, Omega places both of his fists onto the canvas, the fans in attendance repeat the action on their own, as he lands a SOMERSAULT SENTON TO THE OUTSIDE!

After the vintage maneuver, both men now find themselves grounded. Exhaustion finally beginning to set in, Omega is the first one to stagger to his feet, and in doing so he picks up his opponent and sends him back into the ring. With Fenix now in the center of the ring, he begins to rise to his feet, and now in a crouched position, Omega hits a soul-crushing Kotara Krusher! Fenix's entire world now must be spinning, Kenny is beginning to feel this matchup finally going his way, now proceeding to pick up his opposition, lifting him up in a fireman's carry position. A Rolling Forward Fireman's Carry Slam follows, which as always is followed up by a springboard moonsault! Omega quickly heads for the cover following the maneuver, he hooks both of his opponent's legs promptly...1...2...KICKOUT! With Fenix still in this matchup, Omega begins to question himself, wondering how to put him away.

Fenix once again staggers to the nearest ropes, Omega senses this and points his imaginary gun to the head of his opposition, lining up for a V-Trigger, but once he attempts the running maneuever, Fenix is able to escape and land a reverse frankensteiner! Just like that the momentum has switched hands in mere moments, a staggering Omega is able to make it to both of his knees, but is brought immediately back down after being struck with a Savate Kick & Handspring Cutter combo. He isn't done here though, the challenger heads up to the top rope, attempting to soar through the sky with an attempted moonsault...BUT IS CAUGHT WITH BOTH OF OMEGA'S KNEES INTO THE ABDOMEN AREA! The agony upon his face is clearly shown, as he grabs upon the affected area, tugging at it. Omega makes it back up to his feet, and lands a V-TRIGGER TO THE BRIDGE OF FENIX'S NOSE!

Omega takes advantage and pulls Fenix forward, looking to land a One Winged Angel, with no competitor ever being able to kickout of the One Winged Angel since 2012, it's make-or-break for Rey Fenix. He hoists him up for it, BUT FENIX COUNTERS...WHICH TRANSITIONS INTO A ROLL-UP PIN ATTEMPT! 1...2...KICKOUT! Omega is still in this one luckily, and ends up landing a Dragon Rebirth for good measure! Upon realizing that it could all be over in a matter of seconds, he once again attempts to lift up his opposition and into a safe position to connect with the One Winged Angel, Fenix desperately tries to escape, wailing his feet in the air repeatedly, UNTIL IT FINALLY CONNECTS! He hooks the leg...1...2...3... KENNY OMEGA RETAINS!

Kenny Omega (c) def. Rey Fenix to retain the AEW World Championship (17:05)

The referee calls for the bell! That's it! Another victim falls to the crucial maneuver known as the One Winged Angel, as Kenny Omega retains the AEW World Championship for the very first time, he is handed his gold by the referee, and raises it up high in the air. As he rolls out of the ring, under the bottom rope, Rey Fenix rises to his feet, looking broken and battered. Omega quickly signals that Fenix's night is coming to an abrupt conclusion, and that comes at the hands of the Good Brothers! They rush in, battering the fallen challenger, closing their presence with a MAGIC KILLER! They meet Omega on the outside, as Kenny Omega, Don Callis, Karl Anderson, & Luke Gallows all stand together, they are once again united, this time clearly as dominant as they once were overseas.

AEW Dynamite - January 13th, 2021

After last week's shocking events, The Elite accompanied by Don Callis make their presence known by kicking the evening off. All four of them carrying themselves with immense pride & determination, proceed to make their way down the ramp and into the squared circle. The arena is quickly filled with an immense amount of boos, as the AEW World Champion, Kenny Omega just soaks in the disgust that he's currently receiving,

Grabbing the microphone, he states that everything is going according to plan, he promised the world that he would get rid of Jon Moxley and become the AEW World Champion. He did just that, and last week was no different, Rey Fenix was simply not good enough to box with AEW's finest. The aftermath of that contest was to teach him a lesson, which is why he brought in two very good friends of his and laid waste to his challenger. He must now look towards the future, so for whoever has the guts to go one-on-one with him in the near future, to meet him in the ring.

Pentagon Jr's theme plays over the PA System, somewhat to the surprise of "The Cleaner". He storms to the ring as he confronts the men that took out his brother unrightfully so, possibly looking for a measure of revenge. He claims that their antics won't go without any consequences, when they laid out his family, they hurt him aswell, and that undoubtedly bothers him. Omega knowing how dominant Pentagon can be, he promises that just like his brother, he too will find the same fate but just at a later date before leaving the ring with his allies.

AEW Dynamite - January 20th, 2021

Following the clear threats made to him by The Elite, Penta El Zero M is seen pacing around the backstage area visibly resentful, until Dasha Gonzalez snaps him right out of it for an exclusive interview. She quickly questions him about not only the events revolving around his brother, but what actions will be taken to avenge his family aswell. He only stares at Gonzalez, looking quite aggravated, a visible taste of displeasure at the question, only saying four simple words in response...DEATH IS UPON US! He walks away, not looking back, as he marches away from the camera's view.

AEW Dynamite - January 27th, 2021

Displeased by his treatment over the past couple of weeks, Penta El Zero M storms through the backstage area, passing by each corner as he searched for Tony Khan's office. After a good couple of minutes of doing so, he finds it and forcefully knocks on the door repeatedly until there is an answer, almost immediately demanding a match against one of The Good Brothers. Khan obliges and quickly makes the match official for later on in the evening. He wishes one half of The Lucha Bros good luck, with Penta responding that he won't need it, that tonight is the night he makes The Elite finally pay for their cruel actions.

Later on in the evening, both Penta El Zero M & Karl Anderson would go one-on-one, but surprisingly for many the rest of The Elite weren't present. But that wouldn't stop both men from putting on an absolute clinic, as they showcased their undeniable skills, both known for their aggressiveness, neither would let up in this contest. Throughout the duration of this battle, it would seem to be a highly back-and-forth endeavor, with the unpredictably of the victor creating a highly competitive atmosphere, but the ending was near, which saw a Pentagon Driver seal the victory for Penta on this night, a measure of vengeance for him aswell.

As the closing bell sounded, both Kenny Omega & Luke Gallows march down to the ring from behind the curtain, taking advantage of Pentagon's clear exhausted state. All three of them begin to surround him, as he has no other choice but to cower in the corner. Looking to take him out, just like they did to his brother, Penta states the following before they are able to do so - "You Think I Didn't Bring Back-Up?" Immediately after saying this, both PAC & Fenix come rushing out, essentially scaring away The Elite, who run from the reunited Death Triangle, as the aforementioned stable stand tall! Actions have consequences, and The Elite are finally figuring them out for themselves.

AEW Dynamite - February 3rd, 2021

The Death Triangle (PAC, Rey Fenix, & Penta El Zero M) v. The Elite (Kenny Omega, Karl Anderson, & Luke Gallows) - Six-Man Tag Team Match

In a special six-man tag team match, The Death Triangle will go head-to-head against The Elite, with this stemming from a pit of jealousy & vengeance, over the past few weeks it has been quite evident that family is much stronger than any type of gold. The Death Triangle make their entrance first, they all march out from behind the curtain and down the ramp, this can only be described as a unit of strength, a family once again bonding over a common cause. The Elite are out next, of-course accompanied by the ever-so smart Don Callis, an ace always up his sleeve, and the same can be said for the rest of them aswell. Once they enter the ring, all six of the competitors stare eachother down, before moments later backing themselves into their individual corners, awaiting for the opening bell to officially sound.

The bell rings, and we are off! PAC & Luke Gallows decide to kick us off, engaging in a quick lock-up, a test of strength following this action. While both of these men have quite a bunch of muscle to their bodies, the substantial mass that Gallows has helped him drive PAC into the corner, giving him the early advantage in this contest. He would quickly pound onto his opposition's abdomen area, driving his fist directly into it, over-and-over again. No matter how much PAC struggled to escape this detrimental scenario, Gallows kept the attack going, until the referee had no choice but to get involved, demanding for Luke to give him a breather. Almost immediately after being told to do so, he would oblige, and PAC looked for a clothesline, however Luke ducked under and slammed his opponent right back down to size with a sidewalk slam!

Upon the impact of the maneuver, PAC tugs onto his back, clearly feeling the pain piercing through his spine. Realizing this, Gallows tags in his Good Brothers teammate in the form of Karl Anderson, and as he rushes in, he makes sure that his opposition has zero room to make a hot-tag. But instead holds tight onto PAC's left leg, bringing him back to the opposite corner, tagging in Kenny Omega this time around. With easy pickings now, "The Cleaner" makes sure to place multiple elbows onto the shin, over-and-over again the same action is repeated. Looking to weaken the left leg of The Death Triangle leader, attempting to turn him over to his stomach, PAC would begin to place multiple kicks to the skull of the World Champion, hoping to get his opponent to a grounded position. This wouldn't occur until PAC got to a vertical position and landed a huge enzuigiri onto Omega!

Once Omega falls face-first into the canvas, this gives PAC enough time to crawl to his corner and tag in Rey Fenix! Looking for some vengeance after what he's been through for the past 28 days, he lunges forward to his attacker, once again the aggressive side of Fenix shown again, landing multiple shots to Omega's noggin. Shot-after-shot, the emotions are exceptionally growing, he follows this up by lifting Kenny to a vertical position, looking for a devastating brainbuster... KENNY REVERSES AND LOOKS FOR HIS OWN VARIANT OF A BRAINBUSTER...FENIX ESCAPES AND LANDS A HANDSPRING CUTTER! Feeling as this could truly be his moment, he heads up to the top rope, but remembering as how this ended so disastrously for him last time, he slowly makes his way down to the apron. Fishing for a conclusion, he attempts a springboard dropkick... BUT FINDS HIMSELF LAID OUT WITH A DROPKICK FROM HIS OPPOSITION INSTEAD!

With Fenix now out of it, his eyes rolling in the back of his head uncontrollably, Omega takes advantage of this by grabbing the waist of his opponent and lifting him up for a Dragon Rush! Kenny says he's had enough of this, wanting someone else to inflict even more damage, he tags Luke Gallows back into the contest, the big man making light work of 163 pounder. Slapping the right cheek of Fenix repeatedly, begging for him to get up, underestimating one of the finest in the squared circle. He slowly picks him up, looking to irish whip him into this own corner, but is quickly reversed, and as he finds himself in the opposite corner, he is struck with a swift kick by Fenix. Rey proceeds to run to the opposite corner, hoping to return back and land another one, but is struck by KENNY'S KNEE! That damn knee continues to cause problems for him, and tonight is no different.

He begins to grab his back just like he did almost a full month ago, but runs right into a big boot by Doc Gallows! He would then fall right into the cover, looking for the first pinfall attempt of this contest...1...2...KICKOUT! With Fenix still in this one, he is clearly still stirring, and Gallows is continuing to grow frustrated. The frustration boils over, and he lifts his opponent up once more and attempts the ever-dominant chokeslam attempt, but Fenix is luckily able to escape in the nick of time...proceeding to KNOCK DOWN BOTH KENNY OMEGA & KARL ANDERSON! Falling down to both of his knees from utter exhaustion, he begins to crawl over to his opposition, possibly looking for a tag...HIS PARTNERS ARE KNOCKED DOWN THIS TIME! Omega grins at the fact that they are both down, wiping the sweat from the tip of his forehead, clapping both of his hands, clearly proud of himself.

Omega rushes to his side of the ring, desperately looking for the tag, and Gallows kindly obliges. He now enters the ring, knowing this could easily be some easy pickings after his handy-work had been already taken care of. While both of his partners are knowingly grounded, Fenix crawls to his opposition, holding onto Omega's right kneepad, trying to use that to help himself up to both of his feet. But instead would find himself pushed down to the ground near the ropes...OMEGA STRIKES FENIX WITH A V-TRIGGER! Not knowing exactly where he's at, Fenix positions himself to be susceptible to a ONE WINGED ANGEL! Both Penta & PAC attempt to get back in the ring, but are held hostage by The Good Brothers, which keeps him grounded for the pinfall...1....2...3...! THE ELITE ARE VICTORIOUS!

The Elite (Kenny Omega, Karl Anderson, & Doc Gallows) def. The Death Triangle (PAC, Rey Fenix, & Penta El Zero M) (22:04)

Rey Fenix once again falls to the AEW World Champion, and the deafening thought of The Elite running the company is growing stronger. Once the closing bell sounds, The Death Triangle all roll out of the ring, with multiple disappointing expressions across their faces, while back inside the ring Don Callis joins the victors to celebrate their victory. But the celebration would quickly come to a close, as "Unscripted Violence" began to play over the PA System, meaning only one thing, the arrival of... JON MOXLEY! He points at the ring, making sure his intentions are well-known, he's come back for the AEW World Championship.

AEW Dynamite - February 10th, 2021

After returning to All Elite Wrestling for the first time since losing his gold on December 2nd, Jon Moxley made it quite clear that the direction he was heading in was right back to the top. He gets set to kick off the show this week, giving praise to Kenny Omega, who has been a valiant champion thus far. But he wants to take that validation away and reclaim the prize he feels he never should have lost, he states that his next goal is to once again become AEW World Champion. However, he wants to go through absolute hell to accomplish this goal, to be at the top of this company once again, that's exactly what he must do.

He states that at Full Gear 2019, their 'Lights Out' Match was nothing compared to the brutality of his idea, that he wants to get rid of Kenny Omega for good, calling him a roach that just keeps coming back to play. So before this can fully come to an end, there needs to be a certain stipulation that fits that storybook ending, he wants Jon Moxley v. Kenny Omega at AEW Revolution in an...EXPLODING BARBED WIRE DEATHMATCH! His concluding statement being that for the first time in nearly 25 years, people will be able to witness such a match, but nothing will stop him from once again holding the crown, not even some eerie barbed wire.

AEW Dynamite - February 17th, 2021

After being given the week of to recover from a chaotic six-man tag team encounter, Kenny Omega returns to AEW with only one thing in mind - answering Jon Moxley's challenge. The camera's view begins to show the backstage area, with the AEW World Champion in his own private locker-room, sitting on a luxurious silver couch. To the side of him is Don Callis, they both begin to simply laugh with no context to it, their laughter begins to calm down as Omega takes a sip of some fine wine before beginning to speak.

He states that he expected this from Moxley, he's always trying to over-do himself, attempting to please others before himself. And that's exactly why he longer holds the crown, and instead a much-more superior competitor in himself does. But no matter what he does, Moxley will always be around, no matter how much he takes from him, Jon will always look to come back, so in an attempt to finally get rid of his fiercest rival, he agrees to the Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch stipulation, and he promises that Moxley will soon regret his creativity and wish he was a simple-thinking man. The Elite always will come out victorious, and on March 7th, that will be no different.

AEW Dynamite - February 24th, 2021

With less than two weeks until AEW Revolution, both Jon Moxley & Kenny Omega took part in a video face-to-face confrontation. Both taking up half of the screen, this was their chance to explain why they believe they should walk out of the big night as AEW World Champion. Moxley went first, stating that he wasn't AEW World Champion for 277 days for no apparent reason, that he carried this company on his back for close to a full calendar year. Not just that, but would love to do that again, and looks forward to going through literal hell to fulfill that obligation. He needs to stop The Elite before it's too late, that is something only he can do... no-one else!

Next up is Kenny Omega, who has his AEW Championship draped over his shoulder. He quickly states that Moxley's championship loss is overdue, 277 days too late in-fact, he believes that Moxley never should have been the fore-front of the company, but that it always should have been him. And when he defeats Moxley on the 7th of March, and the advantage is clearly in his oppositions favor, it will finally prove that AEW is in good hands, in the hands of "The Cleaner". Revolution is all about getting rid of Moxley for good, and by retaining the World Championship for the second time, that will undoubtedly be accomplished.

AEW Dynamite - March 3rd, 2021

On the AEW Revolution go-home show, a video package plays over the titantron to showcase the history between both Jon Moxley & Kenny Omega. From their Full Gear 'Lights Out' matchup, to their Winter clash, all the way to the present time. The package quickly transitions to the presentation of the cruel nature of the Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch, with the legend Atsushi Onita explaining the rules of the death-defying contest, closing his statement by saying once the match reaches a 30-minute duration, all explosives in-and-around the ring will detonate!

AEW Revolution - March 7th, 2021

Kenny Omega (c) v. Jon Moxley - Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch|AEW World Championship

As we approach our main event of the evening, the Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch stipulation returns for the first time in nearly three decades. But before anything can get underway, the two must make their entrances first. Jon Moxley makes his way to the ring first, using the side entrance as he usually does, he carries himself filled with pride & confidence, aswell as sporting a silver spiked jacket, symbolizing the death-defying nature of the upcoming contest. Kenny Omega is out next, before making his way out from the corner, he politely asks for both The Good Brothers & Don Callis to stay back, wanting to prove that he can have a successful retention on his own. They oblige, and Omega makes his way down the ramp, draping the AEW World Championship over his shoulder as he eventually steps up to his challenger. Once the bell rings, both men start us off at a quite slow pace, looking to feel eachother out, while clearly attempting to avoid coming into any contact with the barbed-wire.

Slowly they begin to become a bit more comfortable, engaging in a lock-up to start us off, followed by the usual test of strength. With both men having a similar stature, Omega takes it upon himself to shove Moxley into the barbed wire, but he evades it and moves to the nearest corner, Omega rushes to that same corner but Moxley lays in a massive boot to the tip of the forehead, and again, and again! Not wanting to get any closer to the ropes, Moxley lands a swift forearm to Omega, and he does the same, both competitors hoping to obtain the early advantage in this contest, this would come for the prior as he shot down his opposition with a beautifully-placed lariat! Quickly knocking Omega's socks off, from there, he looks to lock-in a sleeper hold, this being the very hold that has put away many as his time as World Champion. However, this was quickly thwarted by the current champion, as he throws Moxley over his head and lands a grounded dropkick.

With Jon now fully grounded, Omega begins to grab both of Moxley's arms, possibly looking for a Dragon Rush, but instead Moxley is able to escape, transitioning into a two-legged boston crab, possibly looking for the early submission victory. He begins to wrench on both of his opposition's legs, leaning on his spine aswell, Omega wailing his arms in the air, nobody to help him here either. But that's obviously what he wanted, and what he's going to get, he now begins to crawl to the ropes. Getting closer and closer, but that's not going to be any use, since the ropes will indeed just end up severely hurting him. So instead, Omega did the smart thing of rolling over and grabbing the leg of Moxley in the process, locking in his own variant of the hold! This time, Moxley is agonizing in pain, letting the world know by screaming out-loud, but once the hold was eased up, Moxley would shove his opponent very close into the barbed wire... OMEGA EVADES LUCKILY, BUT HE TURNS AROUND IS MET WITH A FRONT DROPKICK INTO THE BARBED WIRE!

The explosion is quickly seen, and the initial drop of blood has been drawn, Omega's back is completely busted open. He quickly became vulnerable to Moxley's sadistic nature, as he began to repeatedly stomp on the affected area, over-and-over again, the wound growing larger by each boot placed to the back area. He wasn't done there though, as from the corner of his eye he sees the trash can placed on the outside area filled with some of his favorite toys, including a barbed-wire 2 x 4. Last seeing this weapon at WrestleMania 32, it has returned for one of Moxley's most dangerous encounters in his wrestling career, he brings it into the ring and begins to plead for Omega to make it to a vertical position. Once he does, he swings the weapon, but quickly figures out that there's nobody home... OMEGA DUCKS UNDER AND CONNECTS WITH THE DRAGON REBIRTH! That clearly isn't enough to put the challenger down, as he begins to stir, making it to a crouched position... KOTARO KRUSHER BABY!!!

Unluckily for Moxley, he finds himself going face-first onto that 2 x 4, piercing his face and opening up a fresh wound. Omega smells blood and picks his opposition up once more, looking to send his opponent into the exploding barbed wire this time around, but seemingly is reversed once more, Moxley goes for yet another front dropkick, HE MISSES! Sending Moxley into the ropes on his own, the second explosion is heard and a blob of smoke is all you can see, but once it eases up, Moxley is spun around and sent right back down with a Dr. Wily Bomb! Everything hurts for Moxley, his entire body aches, remembering the simpler times, he begins to get in the zone. Fighting through the pain, he begins to jerk his body to a vertical position, his right eye is centered around the 2 x 4 once again that lays on the canvas, but Omega sees it too. They both simultaneously tug at it once it's in their grasps, but Omega's wittiness gave him the edge and he ripped it from his opposition's grasp, but his use of the weapon wasn't as well-thought out, as he recklessly swung it and eventually met a swift headbutt for it! He falls to his knees, as the maneuver knocks the wind out of him.

He begins to pick up Omega, his eyes rolled in the back of his head, he looks to hook in both of Omega's arms for an attempted Death Rider... OMEGA REVERSES AND LANDS A GERMAN SUPLEX INTO THE LAST EXPLODING ROPE! The brunt of the impact going to Moxley, his back continuing to create more-and-more fresh wounds... OMEGA LOOKS FOR A V-TRIGGER... NO MOXLEY GETS OUT OF THE WAY IN THE NICK OF TIME AND HITS A DEATH RIDERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! He falls to the cover instinctively... 1...2...KICKOUT! OMEGA IS STILL IN THIS ONE! Getting back on both feet, he goes to pick up Omega for one last leap of faith, but instead is found with his nose struck with a propounding knee as a V-Trigger had been landed! Usually that maneuver is transitioned into the finishing touches of a One Winged Angel, but instead Kenny makes the risky choice of going for another V-Trigger, Moxley moves out of the way once more, attempts for yet another Death Rider, but is quickly shot down Double Underhook Piledriver! The blood rushing to his head, it's now all up for "The Cleaner" to make his final lasting impression on his fiercest rival.

Crawling over to the corner, Omega begins to wave his hands, gesturing to the back. And out comes The Good Brothers, as they rush to the ring, pounding on Moxley, and the referee can't do anything as this is all legal in this kind of matchup. Once they are done pumbling the skull of Jon Moxley, they finish him off with a good old fashioned Magic Killer! But before this contest could come to a close, Gallows throws a baseball bat wrapped up with barbed wire to Kenny Omega, and once Moxley gets up to a vertical position, OMEGA STRIKES HIM WITH IT! IT EXPLODES!!! Moxley is knocked out, which gives Omega enough time to land one last V-Trigger, followed up by a One Winged Angel for good measure! The World Champion takes his time in crawling to the cover...1...2...3...! KENNY OMEGA RETAINS THE AEW WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP FOR THE SECOND TIME!

Kenny Omega (c) def. Jon Moxley to retain the AEW World Championship (27:01)

The closing bell sounds and the medical personnel begin to check in on the fallen Jon Moxley. Trying to get him to the backstage area as soon as possible, they aren't able to do so as Kenny Omega decides their time in the squared circle is yet to be finished. The Elite swarm in the ring once more, continuing to beat-down the former AEW World Champion, finishing him off with yet another Magic Killer! Don Callis comes out from the back with a set of handcuffs, locking them in on Moxley, he is unable to go anywhere. Callis puts the keys away in his pocked and walks out of the ring, and so does The Elite. But not before Eddie Kingston runs in, pushes them away and runs into the ring, the countdown timer is ready to expire, with no other choice... HE COVERS MOXLEY! THE RING IS QUICKLY FILLED WITH SMOKE AS IT EXPLODES! Once the smoke from the detonation is washed away, all that can be seen is both Moxley & Eddie Kingston unconscious on-top of eachother.

Build To AEW Double Or Nothing 2021:

AEW Dynamite - March 10th, 2021

In the wake of his grueling defense, Kenny Omega is given the week off to nurse any wounds that he may have suffered during AEW Revolution. But that doesn't stop him from providing an update from his household, but before the segment can begin, the AEW World Champion is seen speaking on the telephone with none other than Tony Khan, stating that Eddie Kingston better be there next week for St. Patrick's Day Slam, that being so he can handle some business that needs to be addressed. After a couple of moments would pass, he would proceed to slam the phone on the table with a furious emotion quickly coming across his face.

Now onto the update, he began by saying that if there was any doubt in anyone's mind about his abilities, that was shattered on Sunday night. He overcame Jon Moxley in his own playground, and proceeded to get rid of the rodent for good, and Eddie Kingston was simply a bonus, wishing them both a speedy recovery... but not too quick. Now while he's recuperating this week, next week will be very different, he will be their to address not just his future as AEW World Champion, but the future of All Elite Wrestling as a whole, especially after Revolution's conclusion. Throwing his belt over his shoulder, both Omega & Callis smirk at eachother to close the segment.

St. Patrick's Day Slam - March 17th, 2021

As promised, Kenny Omega cuts a promo to open the show. Before calling out Eddie Kingston as he spoke about last week over the phone, he talks about how AEW is finally in good hands, that getting rid of Jon Moxley is exactly what this company has needed for a long while. The future is incredibly bright, and with the world now fully in his hands, it's time to prove why AEW should have been his from the get-go. He politely asks for Kingston to make his way down to the ring, and to kindly come face-to-face with him, so the two can speak out their differences.

That is exactly what occurred though, as Eddie Kingston makes his way inside the ring, the disgust is visibly shown, as he begins to pace around the ring, his entire body shaking. He begins by saying that what The Elite did was absolutely disgusting, they made sure that Moxley was vulnerable enough, when he was at his lowest, with no-one to help him, no friends at all. But what they fail to realize, is that when friends may fight, they may argue, they may even say things they clearly don't mean. But when that person is in critical danger, that all stops. And that's exactly why he helped out Moxley, because he's still close to his heart, they went through literal hell together and they will continue to do so. The Elite almost killed the two of them, impacted his lungs like never before, and their reckoning will come in due time, because Moxley will be back.

AEW Dynamite - March 24th, 2021

Eddie Kingston is scheduled to be in action, the camera's view begins to show him making his way out to the ring, but is bombarded by The Elite! The trio begin to beat the piss out of Eddie, with Omega screaming to Kingston "DONT YOU DARE STAND UP TO US AGAIN!". A clear warning by the AEW World Champion, but this honestly doesn't last long, as both The Butcher & The Blade rush out from the back, evening the odds, as they attack them, security begins to separate the two trios as Kingston looks directly at Omega and flips him off! Beginning to state that he wants some revenge, whether or not Moxley is back or not, Omega then nods in agreement, both men clearly visibly pissed.
