Pickpockets, rogues, and thieves have always been my least favorite fantasy archetype. I just finished reading A Wizard’s Guide to Defensive Baking and I couldn’t stand the smarmy pickpocket kid. I also read The Blacktongue Thief and while I did love it I’m ready for a bit of a palate cleanser.
I’m much more inclined to heroes, knights, mercenaries, barbarians…anything but rogues! I loved the Bloodsworn saga and The Poppy War trilogy. I know John Gwynne has other series, but I’m also working on bingo and want to explore other authors as well!
