I have not read a lot of fantasy but was in very early on the Song of Ice and Fire series (long before GoT) and loved Narnia and Middle Earth as a kid. I also love the Arthurian legends (Mists of Avalon, Cornwell) and tore through almost all of Bernard Cornwell's books that "The Last Kingdom" was based on (again, long before the TV series). I know Cornwell is not fantasy, but that is the kind of stuff I like in a fantasy book. I love stuff that has political maneuvering and intrigue, battles for the throne, etc.
So, any recommendations?
