We're back. Kind of. Clearing out the cobwebs. Much stuff broken. Much stuff coming. More details to come. So much spam.

Reminder: Mod Applications Close on Monday 5/7 - Don't Forget to Apply!
Post Body

WHOOPS. CORRECTION: Title is meant to say 4/7, not 5/7. March 7th. Tragically, we cannot edit titles after they are posted.

CORRECTION NUMBER TWO: 3/7. Not 4/7. Again, March 7th. The Monday closest to today. Time is fake. This is why we need more mods.

We opened up mod applications last week, and they will be closing on Monday! If you are interested in joining our team, make sure to get your application in before 11:59AM Eastern US time on Monday, March 7th.

Full Application Info:

We're looking mainly for frontline mods who can help us respond to user reports and modmail. We're prioritizing the following time zones in the UTC format: -5, -6, -7, -8, 9, 10, and 11. BIPOC individuals are especially encouraged to apply.

Apply here!

If you're on the fence about applying, hopefully this helps answer a few questions:

Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ

How much of a time commitment is this?
If you're an active member of the community already, odds are being a mod won't be much of an additional time commitment. Ideally, candidates should be able to moderate at least a couple of hours every week, but we make sure to provide breaks and vacation time to avoid burnout.

What about the drama?
Heated threads are inevitable, but it helps to have a team. Mods are encouraged to help out with spiraling threads to whatever degree they personally feel comfortable with. Right now we definitely need more help with this, but we also understand that you won't necessarily know your bandwidth until you begin moderating and learn your own limits - and we won't ask you to go beyond those.

How much do I need to know about modding?
We have a "learn on the job" approach and more experienced moderators are happy to mentor and answer questions.

What does being a moderator look like from a team perspective?
We use Discord to stay in touch and discuss moderation issues as they arise. It is our primary communication tool. While by and large we all consider one another friends as well as teammates, you'll never be obligated to share any personal information with other members of the team. Be warned, however: we have been known to grow the To-Be-Read piles of new moderators exponentially by showering them with book recommendations! :)

Other questions?
Feel free to leave a comment below or reach out directly if you have any questions we didn't cover here.

So what are you waiting for? Fill out that fancy form and send your applications our way!

---------------------------------------------------------

Applications will close at 11:59AM Eastern US Time (UTCโˆ’05:00) on March 7th.

Applications received after 11:59AM ET may not be considered. May the odds be ever in your favor!
