Recommendations for some medieval typical high fantasy books
Post Body

I’ve just finished reading the first Farseer Trilogy and loved it, also a fan of ASOIAF, and LOTR. Found Wheel of Time a bit difficult to get into and so never really got going with it.

I’m after basically some typical high fantasy books set in that classic vaguely medieval Europe with dwarves, elves, maybe dragons. Usually a male protagonist but doesn’t have to be. Every time I come across something I think will fit the bill, I find something saying why it’s groundbreaking or breaks away from typical tropes in some way, but I actually don’t want that, I just want standard medieval fantasy with great adventures, cool battles, magic, interesting villains, morally grey characters etc.

What books are best for this? I’m considering the Gentleman Bastards series.

edit: thanks everyone, I’ve added most of these to my list as they all look perfect for what I want!
