(spoilers for half-way through the Tawny Man trilogy) I just got half-way through Golden Fool, and...

I can't believe that the Fool was Amber! WTF?!? Was I "supposed" to get that while reading the Liveship books? Is there something about that trilogy I would appreciate more deeply, now knowing Amber was the Fool? I have been avoiding reading anything online about the Elderlings book because I don't want to spoil what happens next in the overall series, so please don't spoil anything for me past half-way through Golden Fool.
