I am thinking of reading the Empire trilogy by Raymond E. Feist and Janny Wurts. Does anyone recommend the series?

If it changes anything, I have not read, and do not have any plans to read, the Riftwar series.
I can list my previous experience with fantasy, but I am really interested in whether other people have had positive experiences with the series.
