One of Regular Show’s most iconic moments is when the park flies into space. However, that was not the first time the park was able to fly. It was able to do so on two previous occasions, the first being when Mordecai and Rigby changed the clocks, and the second when Thomas was revealed as a Russian spy.
Throughout his time as a spy Thomas had subtly planted engines into the Park that would be used to fly it to Russia. My belief is that when the scientists arrived at the Park, they repurposed the infrastructure Thomas left behind for their own goals (or maybe Thomas was a knowing ally of theirs).
