I've used to rely on my dreams from when I slept as a way to get ideas for writing, but ever since I started taking something for my lack of energy (prescription meds) I've struggled to remember any of my dreams. I can definitively say that my dreams are vivid in the moment, but my memory falls off as soon as I wake up.
I also used to get ideas/inspiration from other fics I've read by other writers, but nothing really clicks for me. I've tried rehashing my old work, but the end result feels like an out of body experience-- it's as if there's an invisible wall blocking the meaning of what I've written.
I like writing prompts, but sometimes they aren't enough. Short dialogue, short phrases-- my brain doesn't seem to want to expand on it. I'm not sure where to find longer prompts-- more of a light summary of what will happen.
My brain needs a little more information to work with these days.
