Consuming fan works in the same universe you're writing for - good or bad idea?
Post Body

Those of you who write regularly, do you also read in the same universe you write for? Do you find it a hindrance or inspiration?

I'm not sure if this is a vent post or discussion post, because I'm currently struggling with a severe writer's block and seemingly can't write for the life of me. Yet I've practically inhaled everything I can find of video edits and fanfics from this universe. I've tried to write character meta analysis, coda fic, drabble. Right now I'm just forcing myself to write no matter how bad I think it is and I wince when I read the sentences I'm typing out.

It feels a bit as all the fics I've read have already said everything I want to say, but still said nothing of what I actually want to say... If that makes sense....
