How Long Is Too Long?
Post Body

So I've seen posts like this before, and generally the accepted word length per chapter is 4,000-6,000 words which is acceptable for most fandoms.

However I write for Naruto, and my story generally has about 7,000-10,000 words per chapter, yet readers still say the chapters are too short for them. I guess I could take this as a compliment of course, but it does make me wonder if I really have a limit on how long my chapters can be.

I recently split a chapter into two, with the first part being 8,000 words; however my readers said they wished for the chapter to be together and not split.

I mention all this cause I got a little carried away with my latest chapter, and the end product will be about 20,000 words. Judging from how my readers always want longer chapters already, is this too much or is it acceptable for how they are?
