I'm writing a one shot where there's a citywide blackout, and one of my characters is trapped in a seperate part of his home from the others because he happened to be in a room that has an electric door. I was going to make it something of a comedy by just leaving him in there the whole time, but now I think I want him to find a way out. But after he gets out and rejoins the rest of the group, I have no idea what else could happnen. Like I said, it's a oneshot, so anything like investigating the cause of the blackout seems too much like it has to lead to something longer. But something else needs to happen. I mean I suppose I could just make the fic about how that character is staving off his fear of the dark and make it like a lulzy day in the life. And the lights will be back on by the end of the fic. But something should happen in the middle aside from just a group of people being in the dark.
