TRIGGER WARNING: there is family violence.

TL;DR: this happened on January 4th, 2022, my sister left kids with family at the Airbnb after a wedding and when my father confronted her they got into a fight and he hit her, put his knee in his chest, and put his hand near her neck but on her shoulder. She did get bruises. As of right now they aren’t talking to each other and I am distancing myself from my father because I’m not sure how to handle this situation.

For full context: my family went to North Carolina for a wedding. I wasn’t able to go. I was hit with most details via text message almost immediately after it happened. I did get more details later but frankly I don’t believe one side as them skipped over more details than the other.

Our cousin, Briddy, was getting married and my sister, Louisa, was given the privilege of being a bridesmaid. After the wedding, after the reception, Louisa leaves the kids with our father (Thanos), mother (Gina), grandmother (Coco), and younger sister (Skipper). Louisa leaves to hang with Briddy. Here the story splits, if you believe Thanos, Louisa didn’t ask or tell anyone in the Airbnb that she was leaving, and either way she was wrong to do so without asking. If you believe Louisa, she didn’t ask, she talked about it, it was discussed openly at the reception for a long time, between our uncle and aunt and our cousins around him, and with him in the conversation.

Louisa returns to the Airbnb, somewhere between 1-2am. The story gets way too messy here, so the details that both stories have will be featured in this next part. After that I’ll say what my sister said vs my dad said.

Thanos and Louisa get into it, Thanos slaps Louisa, and Louisa gets in his face about it. Thanos pulls Louisa from the bed, getting her on the floor, he puts his knee into her chest and puts his hand near her neck, close to her shoulder. Lots of screaming happened. And this woke up my niece and nephew and this happened in the same room as them.

Briddy was called by someone in the Airbnb (most likely Skipper), and Briddy picked up Louisa, and she spent the night with Briddy.

Louisa reluctantly went back to the Airbnb that morning because she was forced to drive back with them.

Thanos’ side: he didn’t know anything about. She didn’t ask, so if course I’m pissed, it’s disrespectful. “So, I waited for her to get home so I can confront her about it. When she gets home, I don’t know if she was drunk or high, I say something and then she starts getting in my face about it. She starts saying ‘I hate you, I wish you would, and fuck you!’ And I’m suppose to just take her talking to me like that?” Thanos goes on to say that Louisa shouldn’t be surprised about her being slapped for that language towards him. And Gina sides with him, but she told Louisa not to talkback because she’s playing with Fire. Coco was there too telling her to stop arguing with me.

Louisa’s side: she got home went to her room in the Airbnb and while she was sitting on the floor our father approached her to confront her about just leaving the kids without asking. He starts to tower over her, and after she tells him to back off he slaps her against the back of the head. She stands up and sits on the bed where her two kids are and starts to tell ho to leave, get out, she’s sick of him, and she’s done. At that point, Thanos pulls her to the floor from her ankle, she hits her head on something on her way to the floor, he gets on top of her he puts her knee into her chest and puts his hand close to her neck but on her shoulder. My niece and nephew wake up, start screaming and all of this screaming wakes up Skipper. Gina was leaving the shower prematurely to find out what was happening with all the screaming. Coco tried to stop him but she fails. The two are at this point finally separated and here Louisa starts screaming “I hates you! Fuck you!” Briddy picks her up and she leaves.

And just to be clear, Louisa left the kids with them around 12-1am she came back to the Airbnb around 2:30-3am.

I’m currently not talking to Coco or Thanos or Gina because I’m pissed at them, and I am not talking to Skipper because Thanos took her phone.

I don’t know what to do. I haven’t spoken to them since the 10th.
