Any tips on mapping a Dualshock 4 to play Fallout 1?

I've been testing out DS4Windows, and I've mapped the mouse to the left stick. However, controlling it feels somehow numb, and too sensitive to navigate the tiny UI. Another problem is that I can only make the cursor in a straight line along X or Y. The Dualshock touchpad works ok, but there's no real reason to use that over a regular mouse. Are there other programs that allow better control of the cursor? I'll probably end up scrapping the idea, but I'd prefer not to.
