I know this is a common problem, but a common solution seems to be missing. Here's the story:
First of, big Fallout fan, wish I was born sooner so I could enjoy Fallout 1 and 2 as well, but find it hard to get into now. I picked up Fallout 3 for ps3 once from a box full of games on sale in a store one day, figured I would try it out, have been hooked ever since.
Anyways, I've played New Vegas on the PS3 first years back (Have to say I like Fallout 3 more, but New Vegas is cool too).
A while ago I decided to play it again, this time on my laptop, it ran without issues (I torrented it, because I already bought it once for PS3, figured I didn't want to pay twice for the same thing).
Recently it was on sale on steam, so I thought: Hey, what the hell. Fallout is amazing, I'm buying it again. And now I'm noticing all these crazy stutters! I can't remember ever having them before when I was using the torrent one.
So obviously I googled the problem and came across a couple of options. I tried editing the .ini, but that didn't do much. I've installed the New Vegas Stutter Remover mod from the New Vegas Nexus, and it seemed to work quite well at first, but I'm still noticing the occasional stutter now!
My laptop should be able to run New Vegas without any problems, I even have the settings at medium right now, and it still has the issues.
TL;DR: I have stutter issues in New Vegas, tried a few things, but it does not seem to be working... Any other solutions?
PS: Side question: If I install mods, will steam still give achievements, or will they be blocked?
