Why did Dagan change his lightsaber color?

Ok, so Dagan gets his yellow lightsaber back, bleeds the kyber crystal, infusing his hate into it, and now it's red. But WHY? Why did he do it? To show how grumpy he is? He hates the Jedi that much? Is it more powerful now? He's not associated with the Sith or even the Empire. So what's his deal?
