Difference between the US version and international versions of Portal TV

I have the option of buying Portal TV for 50 usd in the US and taking it to India, or for more than 3 times that in India. For me, it will still be worth buying in India if it means I get access to Indian specific streaming apps like Hotstar or Sony Liv. So my question is whether there is any restriction to what apps you can use based on where you buy the device, are are the versions same.
