Hi everyone from Quebec , Canada, I recently purchased a 23andMe DNA kit through Facebook Marketplace for $123 from a seller in Ontario. The transaction seemed legitimate, and I have email documentation of our communication. However, upon receiving the kit today (through Canada Post), I discovered it's unusable because it's already registered under the original purchaser's name. As a student, losing $123 is a significant financial setback for me. I'm currently trying to resolve this issue with the seller, but I'm considering asking for a refund and offering to return the kit. I'm concerned about the possibility of the seller being uncooperative. What options do I have if this situation doesn't resolve amicably? I'd appreciate any advice on how to protect myself and potentially recover my money if needed. Thank you for your help!
N.B. The seller is a lady with a legitimate account. I corresponded with her with my fake Facebook account but I asked her email specifically to document the transaction (which is well documented) and used my official school email.
