Hi all, getting my first state ID today and I have the option to select either M or F for my sex. I'm having trouble deciding, though. Here are the factors:

• My dead name is still my legal name and is one that is very obviously a feminine name, I've never even heard of a man having it.
• My legal sex is still F.
• I haven't had any trans related surgeries (I plan to get top), but I wear a binder every day and try to visibly pass as a man, and dress masculine.
• I live my life as a stealth man, people only know I'm trans on a need-to-know basis.
• I'm on testosterone and have started to grow facial hair, and my voice has started to deepen.
• Edited to add: If it makes a difference, I live in a blue state where I've had good luck with doctors, peers, etc., being chill about the fact that I'm trans.

I'm thinking about getting M on my ID, because for all intents and purposes that's what I want to do and should do, but then what happens if I get arrested for something? Do I get thrown in a male prison, do they just look at the M on my ID?
