I donāt necessarily mean this in regards to being trans, but being a binary man in society in general.
I consider myself NB, but lately iāve been questioning if thatās because Iām so used to my socialization as a woman that itās hard to give up. I do observe and notice men have it harder in a lot of aspects. Theyāre expected to lead, and do more. Women arenāt taken as seriously, which sucks, but men are Expected to do manual labor and know how to fix things and it seems their value is placed more on what they can do and provide than just who they are as a person.
This is of course, a generalization. I know there are exceptions and iāve met plenty of men who have found love and support in their own communities.
I guess Iām a bit scared of being thrusted into a role where Iām expected to know and do things I was never taught how to do. There are some aspects of womanhood I do like, like women trusting me and having that support and friendship easily. And not being overworked in my manual labor jobs because the assumption that I donāt have the same strength. (i doā¦.take advantage of this one at times). Also as someone attracted to women, I feel like being a āmasc lesbianā would make my dating life easier. These are all very shallow reasons to be scared of transitioning in a binary way, but I think theyāre valid when youāve gotten accustomed to a way of life. I see men struggle so much with isolation and mental health, and the lack of empathy they get. I am honestly scared of that, I already feel isolated enough as is.
So my question is, is it harder for you in some aspects as a binary man? Iām assuming the trade off of alleviating your dysphoria is worth it, but still, is there any parts of before that you missed?
