Ive been on t for close to 7 months now, and when I bind/layer correctly, I can pass pretty alright. Ive been sir'd a few times, and i feel so esctatic every time.
But, for me-- the biggest win was so much smaller. there's a 7/11 around the corner from my house with a guy who works there from my community. Whenever I go, we speak in our home language, and our home villages are close together.
he met me twice before I started my transition- and the immediate recognition of 'fellow punjabi dude' vs 'punjabi girl', and the way he talks to me makes me want to cry from joy. When I was pre transition, men from my community were polite, but distant. Afraid to be 'improper' unless they already knew me. Before, he barely said hello to me. Now I get the pat on the back and the ' where the fuck have you been' treatment.
Every trip there I come out feeling blessed.
