We can fit an accel course, the GFR Asymmetric Oval (good for structured testing and new drivers) and an autocross course on the site. The taxiway on the left is no longer available due to construction at the site.
Teams are welcome to bring more than one car, but because of space limitations on the site we will need to be very organized about who is running when. The layout is big enough for 1 car on the acceleration course, 1 on the asymmetric oval, and 1-2 on the autocross/endurance course as we feel is safe.
Testing equipment
We appreciate if everyone can bring flags, cones, fire extinguishers and chalk so we have enough to staff. We will expect every team to volunteer course workers throughout the event. In previous years we haven't had a good set of beam timing lights so direct comparison between cars wasn't very easy. At OSU, we are using exclusively Motec beacons for timing, hopefully another team has lights which they would be willing to bring to the event.
Technical inspection / Car safety
In the past each team has taken responsibility for ensuring their cars are safe, both for their own drivers and the other teams and course workers on the track. This system has worked well, and I suggest we continue to each hold our teams to a high standard of safety. This point does require some pre-planning and thought as we will be running some older cars.
Pricing Payment
The price I was quoted was $200/day, so $400 total. We will also have to pay to have a portable toilet at the site. Costs will be split evenly between all attending teams, payment in cash or check is easiest for us to process.
What I need from you
So that's that, please use this thread to keep the communication open and discuss your thoughts on the event. I look forward to hearing from you!
In particular:
If your team is interested, how many people and cars you estimate
Feedback on dates, other event details
What equipment you can bring for track use
Flags
Cones
Fire extinguishers
Do you have any volunteers to help with organizing?
Group dinner - The nearby Shilo Inn is expensive and not really setup for that many people. There are other place in the Dalles, but many are 21 only
Volunteer to organize portable toilet
Other thoughts, ideas input? Discuss in this thread.
