How the hell do I fix snap to grid?

New to fl so bear with me
Make a pattern, extended it while snap to grid was off. Turn snap to grid on, but now it snap in relation to where it was cut, which is off center. It was recorded without snap off so can't just go back, and when I slice it it turns grey, so I can't colour code, and that also seems like a weird fix to have to always slice it.
