Anybody know the rules and regulations on traveling with medicine?

Got pulled over yesterday, cop immediately asks if I have a medical card, I say I do and question why. He says it’s smells like weed, and I’m like yeah my jars right there. He proceeds to tell me that since it wasn’t in the dispensary jars I cannot transport like that. I explained the weed comes dry as hell and I put it in glass with the humidity packs to freshen them up. He says I can’t travel with it like that. Long story short he let me go and placed my jar back in the car, not without a joke about buying from a drug dealer and putting it in a jar and saying it’s from a dispensary.
