So my 8-year-old male cat was diagnosed today. He went into the Vet because he had sort of and abscess on his left cheek and they wanted to get it drained. He hasn't had too many issues healthwise although I think he has a little bit of respiratory issues. My biggest concern is I have three other cats. I'm trying to get them tested as soon as possible and of course he's been isolated from the rest of them. He has to be isolated no matter what because he's still recovering from the abscess.
So my question is how transmittable is this to the other cats if they don't have it? From my understanding it is basically saliva to blood. What about saliva to saliva? One of the other cats is female and she is bonded to him and they hardly ever leave each other's side. They live, breath and sleep together. He is not aggressive at all.
I'm reading an awful lot of information on the internet and most of it is like play it safe keep them by themselves. Well it's going to be very hard to isolate him in one room of the house for the rest of his life. I do have a vet appointment in 5 days to take the drain out of his abscess and of course I'm going to try to get as much real information from the vet as I can but in the meantime I'm trying to find out does anybody else out there have cats that live together that are some are positive and some not?
