Rambling context ahead, 1st paragraph is just some context to me personally
So basically I'm a mid 20s deadbeat and wasted the last 8 or so years being lazy/depressed. No work beyond some retail experience, no experiences, confidence, discipline , relationships no driving license etc- I'm basically mentally 16 at best and have less than 6 years until I'm 30 which seems ancient to be honest. I'm also probably lacking in social skills, certainly confidence and don't have a family really so realistically i'm probably not salvageable . Depending on results from an examiners board I might get a crummy non honours incomplete Economics degree or a 2.1
But the basic question is people often wrestle with enjoying life ( travelling, relationships, regular socials, hobbies) and grinding - improving their earnings savings reputation, maybe even find meaning or mental satisfaction in the work itself. If I had a youth I would be more willing to slog out my days in a cubicle but I think it would depress me, as would being a loser at 30
How much income would be needed to be financially secure enough for most life landmarks and having a loving relationship/marriage - think statistically women effectively despise men who can't provide enough, maybe the feminists change that gender role expectation with their empowerment but I doubt it and its probably biologically hardwired as well- whilst still being able to socialize and maybe have weekends free, would something like £50k be acceptable, can it be done working less than say 60 hours a week? Or should I have to commit to short term life happiness vs long term security and happiness ? Is the average wage of around 30k horrendous, is 100k ridiculously hard to achieve ?
Apologies for rambling but hopefully the gist of the question is clear, any thoughts from someone more experienced hugely welcome thanks
