So the original Final Fantasy was created as a stand alone title. Due to our love of it. They allowed the game to spawn all of the other games, books, and movies. So now Remake literally just means they are making the original game as if all that support material had existed before they made it. It doesn't mean they are changing the story now. It means they are now able to show us the greater vision that they were not able to show us all those years ago due to time, money, or technical set backs.
