BOSS: Scarmiglione (IV)

Difficulties: 160 (Ultimate ) and 220 (Apocalypse )

Mastery Conditions:

  • Defeat Scarmiglione with at least 4 members alive at the end of the battle.
  • Reduce Scarmiglione's ATK.
  • Reduce Scarmiglione's DEF.

Overview:

  • Lots of status effects, primarily uses Thunder-elemental magic.
  • Weak to Fire and Holy. However, he counters Fire-elemental damage taken with Counter Gas which has a chance to apply AoE Poison/Silence/Blind/Sleep or a combination of them. Chances of counter increases the weaker he gets.
  • Responds to physical attacks with Counter Ultimate: Cursed Elegy, which Slows front row members. Just like Counter Gas, the counter chance increases the weaker he gets.
  • Is able to use Gas as a normal ability which only affects front row units, and his physical attacks are otherwise front row piercing physical attacks that can deal either Sap, Confuse or Paralyze. He uses this in every 3rd turn of each phase, and 6 turns after.
  • Ultimate: Thundaga hits the back row with very heavy Thunder-elemental magic damage.

Tips:

  • Holy weak, so go ham with all your Holy-elemental toys. Note that for physical parties, it is probably much better to rely on a heavy SB damage strategy (e.g. Thunder God) instead of going for BSB commands due to Counter Ultimate: Cursed Elegy. Mages parties are probably just going to go ham with Raines.
  • Astra and Affliction Break helps with keeping your front row status free. Your back row units should not be getting status'ed if you don't use any Fire-elemental abilities, so Ultra Cure is also good for curing statuses.
  • An alternative to not using Breakdowns/Full Break for mastery medals/support is to use Dances.
  • Your front row units should have Confuse/Paralyze resistance, and your back-row should have Lightning-elemental resistance.
  • You will want Shellga/Wall to deal with Thundaga, but you can leave Protectga at home as his physicals are piercing. Debuff stacking is the way to go for his physical damage.
