BOSS: Daedalus (XII)

Difficulties: 160 (Ultimate ) and 220 (Apocalypse )

Mastery Conditions:

  • Win with 4 or more party members alive.
  • Reduce Daedalus' ATK.
  • Reduce Daedalus' RES.

Overview:

  • Uses a combination of physical and magical attacks, though most of his attacks are physical.
  • Opens Turn 1 with Haste.
  • Rock Crush and Ice Strike deal physical Earth and Ice-elemental damage to all party members respectively.
  • His two magical attacks are Piercing Darkga (heavy Dark-elemental magic damage to one target bypassing Reflect), and Ultimate: Rock Crush (heavy Earth-elemental magic damage to four random party members, can Petrify).
  • Ultimate: Wrath Strike deals heavy damage to one target with a high chance to Stun them. Tri-Attack hits three random party members instead, and has a high chance to Stun each one. Lastly, he also has a Counter Ultimate: Wrath Strike, which is same as above.
  • In his Weak phase and further, he has access to Ultimate: Wave Pulsar, which deals massive physical damage to one target, with a high chance to Stop them.
  • In his Very Weak phase, he has an AoE piercing physical attack called Ultimate: Rampage, and Ultimate: Rock Crush.
  • Weak to Holy, absorbs Dark, resists everything else.

Tips:

  • You will want to lean more towards physical mitigation here. That said, don't ignore magical mitigation either.
  • Bring a Dispel/Banishing Strike to deal with his turn 1 Haste.
  • Most of his attacks are NAT, which nullifies Tauntaliate.
  • Bring Affliction Break, Astra, and/or Mind Breakdown so your party isn't crippled by Stops and Stuns.
  • He is weak to Holy, so all your best Holy-elemental Soul Breaks should be the best choice for damage here. E.g. Orlandeau's OSB, Basch's BSB, Minfilia's BSB, etc.
  • ATK/DEF debuffs are great here (e.g. Lion BSB, Irvine BSB, Yuffie USB). The aforementioned three Soul Breaks have a secondary NE component which means they aren't completely crippled for damage.
