One of the things that I noticed while fighting the apoc was that Tyro would often be able to dodge a laser attack or two each attempt.
No one else ever did dodge a laser so I assume it was due to the fact I had him equipped with the pumpkin and it was stacking its 100 evade with his armor.
It's not much but since you can't debuff the lasers and you are really close a lucky dodge might be enough to put you over the top.
