Figured I would share my progress, as this is my first Torment I've completed. Had some help with building my team from people here in the discord which I appreciate. I would not have come this far without some help. I am not super good at the ATB battle systems and typically prefer turn based.
As you can see in the screenshots, I started to run out of steam around this point. Faris was out of ability uses, Ramza was out of ability uses, Agrias, if left to her own devices had charged up so much SB I suppose I could have slammed down a second BSB opener or Holy Knight Charge, but I was afraid I would kill one of the dudes too fast. As they all got close to the wire, I worried that maybe I forgot to hit the right dude with the right spell, using the spells again hoping that would do it for the mastery.
I would second guess myself, worrying that I was not going to make it, I would worry that maybe the boss hitting harder at the end meant that wall dropped off (probable, since I cast it at the start of the fight, and at the midway point hoping that would prevent it from dropping off, and made sure to recast proshellga liberally along with Faris' dancing moves and Sea Lord Broadside as often as I could, but something was still not low enough because it started hitting like a truck.) and that the damage was going to be too much for poor Y'shtola to heal through (which partially was true, I ended up lucking out I had generated enough through bsb usage (mostly cmd2 but had to do cmd1 in a pinch) to re-cast asylum for the mid heal stoneskin which holy shit helped out way more than if I had brought Ovelia's BSB)
Ultimately, Earth guy went down and I was able to use liberal use of CMD2 from raines to take home the gold! Super satisfying! Doubtful I can do the d250 at my current level, with how close to the wire it was for this.
A little more backstory on other things I have completed so far in addition:
- Current FF13/FFX mote dungeons (I really want OK motes, but Ahriman is a bit rough in terms of damage. He's next on the list, since I now have Faris at a high enough level to be a reverse wall, in addition to normal damage mitigation should help me out. His petrify thing is a hock of shit, but I know about blinding/poisoning him...just need to do that...)
- Ultima, Crushdown, Dervish are completed, if not partially mastered. Not sure which ones to do next with my team. Mage team looks like raines/rapha/y'shtola/seymour/papa at this point.
- still have a lot of classic/elites left to do, but they're mind numbingly easy at this point for me, and still take up too much stamina. Frustratingly the last times half stam has come up, was during the work week for me, so I couldn't spend all day grinding this crap out (though when I was free, it was doable to chain stamina shard dungeons such that I'd run out of stamina only to have it refreshed)
- I was able to do FFT d180, and FF5 d180 with my holy team (I've also done the MP 160/220 recently but I figure those don't count because you can be carried through content easily enough)
- I seem to have created the account 6 months ago, but I only really started seriously playing around 4 months ago, I remember it was right around Spring Festival 2017 or the free 50 mythril thing. I don't remember much around that time.
Now the question is, where do I go from here? A lot of the d200 dungeons seem to either require really specific setups or relics I just don't own. Just hold on and plow through the remaining DU content and pull on some more banners? Be okay with not being able to do the higher level content until I can acquire relics and enough XP eggs to level up the rest of my team enough to swap out characters on a whim? This proudclad boss especially looks like a quite frustrating endeavor for me. I'm including my profile in case anyone has any suggestions:
