I understand the idea of the meta - Onion Knight's with BSB is amazing after he breaks his late 90s and unlocks his all motes and dives. Orlandeau (Sea world and Disney and put-put golfing...) has one of the best OSBs in the game. Shout can make quick work of bosses with a physical team. But none of these characters have nostalgia or anything to make me really care about them, causing me really not wanting to put them in my party.
In the meantime characters I love (Seifer, Palom, Cid(VII), and Locke) seem to be consider lower tier characters. I have a bad tendency to whale for their banners resulting in multiple soul breaks for all of them (except Palom who apparently hates me..) and love having them on my team.
Was just curious to how important the meta is, especially when trying to clear the higher nightmare dungeons. If I have Seifer's BSB and two Super Soulbreaks does that boost him to make him viable without synergy? Would Cid be considering high tier if he has his burst and two supers?
On a side note I have a lot of left over super and burst soul breaks (Strago's Mighty Guard, Y'shtola's Asylum, Papalymo's Enochian Firaja..) for characters I don't really care about, is it worth using mythril during Orb Fest to level them? They would be extremely situational and only used when synergy called for it.
Just looking for opinions as a common lurker who sees a lot of talk of who is viable and who is not.
