BOSS: Demon Wall (XII)
Difficulties: 160 (Ultimate ) and 200 (Apocalypse)
Mastery Conditions:
- Win with 4 or more party members alive.
- Afflict the Demon Wall with Slow.
- Defeat the Demon Wall before it uses Crushdown.
Overview:
- Weak to Holy-elemental attacks. You know what to do.
- He is also vulnerable to Slow.
- This boss has a crap ton of status afflictions. These include AoE Sleep, AoE Counter Blindga (when hit by physical), single-target Stop, and single-target Silencega (when hit by black magic). He is also able to Stun and/or Confuse your party, as well as use Osmose, which removes an ability use from one member.
- He also Hastes himself periodically.
- If the battle drags on for too long, and you let him get too close, he'll use Crushdown which instantly ends the life of your party members, and gives you a Game Over.
Tips:
- All of Demon Wall's attacks are physical, so you can leave Shellga and magical mitigation at home.
- Indomitable Blade/Grand Cross is useful in this fight purely for dodging single-target Stops and Counter Silencega (if your party runs mages). Celes and Exdeath are also capable of using Banishing Strike/Saint's Cross and Holy.
- Make sure to bring Slowga/Tempo Flurry/Mug Time, both for mastery, and for delaying his turns further.
- Keep in mind that he can use Haste on himself - unless you're using Mug Time or Slowga, you'll probably want to bring Banishing Strike to remove it immediately. Or you can try Reflecting him (in this case, you might want to bring Tempo Flurry or Mug Time for Slowing him instead).
- If your party can spare the slot, Affliction Break will also greatly help here.
- If your party doesn't have an Indomitable Blade/Grand Cross user, then you might want to consider bringing Esuna/Ultra Cure just in case a mage gets Silenced. Physical users that get Blinded can get by with Lifesiphon and SB spam, but keep in mind that for BSB users, their commands are quite likely to still miss, so you will want some Blind resistance gear for them. Or Esuna/Ultra Cure.
- For longer time players, there is a great accessory you can give your healers called the Rose Corsage, which gives 23 MND and major resistance to Silence.
- It's suggested to get an extra hone on niche abilities like Esuna if you're planning to rely on ability uses, due to Osmose. R3 for any ability should be mostly fine, R2 for 5* should be more than enough.
- I'm sure there will be people who would like to try an all-Dragoon party for this one, just for kicks. You know who you are.
