Hello Keepers!

I wasn't really foreseeing this, but apparently we got the Gilgamesh MO much earlier than expected. Everyone is having a blast with it, which is great!

...which leads me to my next point. Just by looking at the sub earlier, the front page was filled with too many PSA's, achievement, shoutout, and apology posts. To avoid cluttering the front page of the sub, I've decided that we certainly need a megathread for this (thanks for bringing it to my attention /u/irismist).

From now on, please keep all multiplayer related achievement and PSA posts in here - I will start deleting them if I see them outside of the megathread. PSA's will be on a case by case basis - if it's good general information, I am happy to let it stay outside, but if it's niche and can only be applied in few situations, please keep it in here.

As for future planning, based on how it's being handled in JP at the moment - we get two sets of battles for every regular challenge event; an Easy-mode boss (drops on the same day as the events themselves), and a Hard-mode boss (drops one day after the event's bonus battles drop). Judging from the reception of the last open beta event, Easy-mode bosses aren't really talked about enough to warrant making an Event Multiplayer Megathread when the event itself drops, so I will only make the Event Multiplayer Megathread a day after the Bonus Battles drop. I will monitor the activity of the sub throughout to see if any more changes need to be made.

I have also added a new Multiplayer flair for everyone to use. Other than that, I might look at rejigging the flairs a little.

Other than that, there isn't much else I'd like to add. Without further ado, Happy Record Keeping, Keepers!

BOSS: Gilgamesh & Enkidu

Difficulties: 160 (Ultimate ) and 200 (Apocalypse)

Moves:

  • Gilgamesh starts the battle alone. Once you have dropped him to about 70% HP, he will summon Enkidu to fight alongside him.
  • Early on, Gilgamesh mainly uses single hit PHY attacks. Before Enkidu appears, he can also use the likes of Death Claw (3-hits PHY chance to Paralyze), Missile (removes 80% of a target's HP), and double PHY attacks. Gilgamesh also counters physical attacks with Counter Counterattack (standard PHY attack).
  • When Enkidu appears, he will start off by using White Wind to heal both himself and Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh will then follow up with Fateful Flurry, which does 50% of current HP damage to all party members.
  • Enkidu is capable of using Berserk to apply Berserk on your party members, Web which does some damage and Slows the target, Aerora and Aeroga which does Wind-elemental magic damage, and Wind Slash which does NAT Wind-elemental magic damage and ignores RES.
  • Enkidu can be Berserked - at which point all he'll spam is Wind Slash.
  • Gilgamesh himself mainly uses Missile in this phase. He can rarely use Zantetsuken (AoE NAT physical damage that ignores RES, and has a chance to KO) as well.
  • When you have dropped Gilgamesh to below 40% HP, he will self-cast Protect. At this stage, he only uses Zantetsuken or Death Claw.
  • Gilgamesh has no elemental weaknesses or resistances, but Enkidu is vulnerable to Wind (which you have to exploit for mastery conditions).

Tips:

  • Tauntaliate works very well against Gilgamesh. Most of his attacks are single-hit PHY attacks that respect Draw Fire.
  • Despite Zantetsuken having a 9% chance to proc Instant KO, you still want to bring Instant KO resistance accessories. Nothing kills the mood faster than seeing 4 people or so instantly die to Zantetsuken.
  • While Missile and Fateful Flurry are Gravity-type attacks, however Missile is relatively impossible to avoid even with a Major Instant KO resist accessory, and Fateful Flurry is auto-hit. Dodge both of these deadly attacks using the likes of Magic or Physical Blink.
  • When Enkidu appears, take him out immediately. He bears the brunt of the nastiest status effects in this fight (Berserk and Slow), as well as being able to dish out a lot of damage via RES-ignoring Wind Slash. In the Apocalypse version of the fight, Enkidu heals Gilgamesh for roughly 8.8k HP per White Wind.
  • If there are physicals, bring Banishing Strike to get rid of Protect at the later stages.
  • It is highly suggested to have a member bring Esuna to deal with Paralysis/Berserk procs if you can.
  • Curaise comes recommended as a way to counter unlucky Zantetsuken Instant KO procs.
  • Gilgamesh with BSB is a highly recommended unit here, due to having access to Tauntaliate and Banishing Strike via BSB.
